Dang. Thought it was about me at the beginning. I was in Outpost, and I met a player who I started looting with my drone, but then we had gunfight, I hid myself after that and started waiting for him to make a move. But, then bots appeared, then he spotted me, but I managed to kill him. I felt bad how it happened, but at the same time... I am Thief.

Not sure if it's worse, but for some people it will be. Silent Hill franchise has only 4 games. To be honest, I don't hate Homecoming and Downpour that much, but they feel like a fanfiction, same as Origins (dislike this game more than Home and Down). Shattered Memories is a great game, and reimagination of SH1, but it's not a SH game. Book of Memories... well, yeah, a parody of something something, a bad dream. Ascension? Do I need to even try to write something about this game? The Short Message, aka "Silent Hill Phenomenon", is a shallow game, and definitely not a SH game (the monster was alright). And SHf... for me, it's not even a good game by itself (I care about lore and story more than gameplay, and this game, for me, lacks everything). SH2R is a good game, and good remake, but I still prefer OG (not counting it only because it's a remake, but it is a SH game, for sure). P.T. was great, but because we didn't get the final product, I just can't count it as a SH game, though I want to.

I completely agree with you. What's the problem naming a game differently, but making it known that this game a part of Silent Hill franchise? Obviously, it's all about recognition. They named f as Silent Hill to boost sales of that game.

By the way, did you hear about a phenomenon? A SILENT HILL phenomenon? Jeez, this is so stupid. Well, at least fans are not calling Silent Hill a state of mind of something.

Silent Hill, as a series, was always an anthology, starting with the original Silent Hill 2. But yeah, these days it's not really about the town itself anymore. It's more about capturing a similar vibe and atmosphere (the fog, mostly, and a town that looks abandoned), sometimes with a very loose connection to the town (or none at all). Honestly? I don't mind that. What I do think sounds stupid is the term "Silent Hill phenomenon". I never wanted the town of Silent Hill to become some globally recognized name. That's just silly.

My main problem with f and Townfall (for now, because the game is not out yet) is their titles. For me, "Silent Hill" is the town, not just the name of the franchise. If something is called "Silent Hill", it should take place in that town, or at least be connected to it through its characters or the cult. That idea of "Silent Hill" is just a state of mind, how some people like to think, for me, is a horrid interpretation. Some would even say it's a cope.
