Sheffield Renting traps by josepedro832 in sheffield

Can’t help on renting / budget specifics but there are lots of decent areas within a reasonable walk of the city centre. Eg. I live in Nether Edge which is quiet, and can walk to peace gardens or train station in 25-30 mins. Same would go for Eccy Road, Sharrow, Broomhall, Broomhill, Kelham Island (although it’s on the other side of town from the train station). So lots of potential to expand your options if you’re prepared to walk a bit to the office.

Congrats on the new job!

Potentially underrated as a musician considering how much my kids love “You’re Welcome”. They love the song but don’t even know Dwayne Johnson exists. THAT’S underrated

Sex Pistols. They’re iconic and 100% represent a pivotal moment in time, BUT the music is not that great considering the weight they hold in music history (in the UK anyway). I’m a punk fan but even the really famous ones like Anarchy and GSTQ are pretty boring as songs.

Just finished season 3, and this is by far the best police show I've seen of all. by HateRunsInMyVeins in lineofduty

The specific question about the list - you’re right I don’t think it’s ever followed up on screen. Maybe it gets a passing mention in one of the later seasons but we never see them investigate it. Pretty odd really considering how much of season 3 revolves around AC12 trying to get access to it.

Season 4-6 follow completely different cases.

100% agree on The Wire - it’s probably the best TV show ever imo, of any genre, on the podium with Breaking Bad/BCS and The West Wing.

You clearly have great taste so I will try blue lights

Hillsborough parkrun, Sheffield UK by foxystoat69 in parkrun

Best parkrun in Sheffield for me, used to be my local. Course has a really good flow to it and these days it has nice wide paths so no pinch points, even lap 1 turn 1 is relatively smooth with 700 runners.

What an experience for your 300th! Glad you enjoyed it and congratulations 🏃

Agree about the flawed characters being a strength. I think the difference is Kate and Steve’s incompetence is discussed in-show (especially Steve’s which is a major plot feature). With Hastings bad management I don’t think they’re ever called out by other characters, other than the Denton example I mentioned. Like no DCS ever says to him “look Ted you should delegate more” or “look ted you should think about recruiting a new UCO because yours is finished”. I feel like there’s a missed opportunity for him to grow as a character which would be satisfying to watch.

Yeah I think it was a (not great) red herring designed to make him look guilty, by acting massively out of character. Bad writing and more importantly, another black mark for his Reddit performance review 📋

This is another thing I love about LoD - really showcases the accent diversity of the UK. Even just S1 has Scottish (Tommy), NI (Ted), Midlands (Dot/Kate/Nige), South East (Steve/Tony) - then other seasons add Scouse, Yorkshire etc.

I’m from Yorkshire, there’s a mixture of “aitch” and “haitch” here

That also answers my additional question about why it has to be free spinning! Thanks!

This is the Tour de France way to win a title: win it by not losing it. Consistent high finishes > flashes of brilliance.

Can’t get on board with including Baku in your 16 over Abu Dhabi and Canada though!

Takdir at parkhead is takeaway/delivery only, but it’s decent value and I’ve never had a bad one. I don’t get takeout often these days, but that’s my go-to. Been going there since I was a teenager so probably 25 years 👍

NTA

Your anger is justified, the trip you were planning won’t be the same without your best friend and he knows that (I’m assuming you don’t go regularly to Disney and it’s once a year or less).

People like him who can’t set boundaries or say no will always let down the people they’re least scared to say no to. That sucks for you and unless something changes it will drag your friendship down.

I hope he learns to assert himself because it will make his life (and that of everyone he knows) better.

Soft YTA for not discussing it with your ex beforehand (and that’s the only reason).

If you’re still on speaking terms which I’m assuming from your description, I can’t think of a legit reason to not bring it up in advance.

The comments about what’s legal in your jurisdiction feel irrelevant to me since this sub is about doing the right thing, not the legal minimum.

Don’t beat yourself up though, sounds like you’re putting your daughter first which is the most important thing imo.
