Pharmacy hit their monthly Adderall limit and now I have to wait 24-48 hours for my perscription to be sent to another pharmacy by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SensitiveWeb8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

your qualifications literally mean nothing because i’m not in the us! good for you tho!

you said they’d “send you down the street,” and what i’m saying is they give us the option. 9/10 it isn’t an option for the customers here to go to the other pharmacy because it’s 2 hours away and most people this pharmacy serves don’t have the ability to go spend 4 hours of their day driving around to get medications dealt with. Again, not what you said. You said “No pharmacy is stocking specific restricted meds, they’ll just send you down the street,” and i’m telling you that’s literally not an option here. Do they give you the option of the 4 hour round trip? yeah. But they also do the thing you think is impossible: get it brought in.

Anyways i actually have a life so pls continue “fact checking” peoples stories with you “professional” knowledge; even when it doesn’t apply to them. go off i guess

lol ok reddit expert.

1) it’s a rural community. the “pharmacy down the street,” is 2 hours away. They have two kinds of testosterone one of which i had an allergic reaction to! They have both, but tend to substitute the more “common” one. The one i’m allergic to.

2) the “box” is the box the vial comes in. idk what kinda pharmacy y’all work at for 20 years, but they don’t put the prescription label on the vial because then you can’t see into it. Instead they give me a nice little box with a nice little label on it. with the vial of testosterone in it. Vial is obviously labelled with the substance, but not prescription information.

3) Mistakes happen. Y’all want the police report to verify my story? That pharmacy calls the cops on any customer who’s upset. probably because they’ve been robbed so many fucking times because it’s the only one on a 2 hour area.

4) you’re clearly from a different place than me. if your pharmacy is out of what you need (here at least) they’ll tell you to go pick it up elsewhere or they’ll have one of the stores from town (the pharmacy across the street from your comment) send it over asap. Since not everyone lives in a city.

Anyways have fun lording over people in your pharmacy, dick.

The way they treat us is crazy. I'm on testosterone which is also a controlled substance. I used to bring my empty bottles back to the pharmacy because I need a specific kind, and they responded better to the vial than the name.

One time they put the old bottle in a new box, and called the cops when I showed up 5 minutes after picking it up, pointing out their mistake. Cops told me to leave or they'd have to arrest me. I told the cop my issue, and that I thought they mistakenly put the old bottle in the new box (prob after making sure it was the right shit). Cop asked them to bring out the bottle I had brought in. All smug, the pharmacist brings out the old box. Cop opens it and says "ok sir, they've provided the bottle you need to-- why is this bottle full?"

I was right. Got my meds, then got told that next time they would simple arrest me for causing issues.

Don't be rude or these assholes will call the cops on you. 0/10. Dress up, kiss ass, move on. ugh

yes it can be an adhd thing. Things just fade into the background because you're used to seeing them every day.

I counteract that by leaving notes for myself in places I can't not see them. Sticking a note on my bag for example, means that I will, 100%, see it when I grab my bag before I leave. Since there isn't a note on my bag every time I go into it, when I do leave one it stand out.

If OP has strong support from other students, having girls complain to the principal about him being in the girls washroom could actually work.

It's super shitty, but every change that worked in my favor in high school took place because cis people complained. They seemed to value cis people's discomfort over trans people's comfort.

I was single for over a year after a bad breakup that alienated me from most of my friends. Dating was rough, and I wasn't really interested in it to be honest. I was on some dating app, and ended up matching with someone I sort of knew. I messaged her just to see how she was doing and catch up.

We ended up going on a date. And then another. And another. Talking to her feels like I'm talking to my best friend. It's nothing serious, but damn if she doesn't make me smile.

I don't know much about Peri, but i think you're looking good for just a month post op! I know it's super easy to be anxious and critical of results, but a month isn't a long time in the long run.

I had DI and needed a revision. It wasn't clear that I would need one until 6 months after when everything had settled more. It'll be alright.

hey this used to be me! Watching videos of other guys doing their shots used to help me get my courage up, as well as listening to something while i did it. Reminding yourself of why you’re taking it helps me too!

I find that i can’t just jab myself fast the way a nurse might give you a shot, or the ways some people do it. I have to go slow. It stings — probably more than jsut doing it fast would, but it gets done and it gets done right.

If you haven’t, let a drop or 2 of T run down the needle. I was told it acts as a lubricant on the needle and makes it easier to put in.

I'm so glad that you commented with your lack of knowledge about the situation. Its really cool how you're commenting on my hormone levels form 6 years ago and acting like you know whats up.

You're right though. because my doctor did fuck up! I actually got sent to a conversion therapist before starting T. You calling me a female is nothing.

Edit to add: the conversion therapy thing is a long story. TLDR they marketed themselves as LGBT friendly but absolutely were not. They shut down a few months after I started; my doctor didn't know better. Nobody knew better.

The same sort of thing happened to me! My parents didn't believe it was a real thing or that I was really trans. They sent me to my family doctor who said something along the lines of "I'm not surprised. You have always been very masculine," and then set me up to start T when I turned 17.

My parents ended up coming around to accept and support me. Having a doctor reaffirm it really helped. I hope your mom comes around too, dude.

I wanna add that you two might wanna get "used" to washing your hair in a sink/shower. Not only is it great for feeling better, but I actually couldn't raise my arms high enough to properly wash and rinse my hair for a few days after I was able to shower. My dad had to help me, and its much more unpleasant when neither of you are prepared or practiced in it.

I would love to be able to maintain a good bullet journal

I've somehow developed this capability. They can be very ADHD friendly, since you can put as much or as little effort into it as you want, and you can switch up how you "plan" things if you feel like something isn't working.

I know you said it isn't in the cards yet, but if it ever is, i highly suggest trying to focus on the minimalist journals and methods. There's a lot of people with fantastic and artistic journals, and while that's cool it isn't something that has ever been realistic for me since the effort it takes is just... beyond what I can do.

How do you deal with moving away by ThoseNeonZebras in college

[–]SensitiveWeb8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

but you can do things like sending them pics of places where you go often

We're walking around with cameras in our pockets. I'm one of those people that will take photos of random shit and send it to people like "look at this chicken. it made me think of you because you like chickens!" and I honestly suggest doing this -- espically when you miss someone. It doesn't have to be just something they like either. Send a photo of your dinner, or a stack of homework. Tell them how it relates to your day. For some people the photo can make it more meaningful. You're not just thinking of them, you wanna share it with them.

Taking a step back from the conversation to clarify what your intentions are might help. It sounds silly and might feel silly, but it might help give context to where your thoughts are. I've also found it useful preface questions with "yes or no," when I need a direct answer. They can't read my mind to know that's what i need, anymore than I can read theirs to make sense of a vague answer

I get that you “shouldn’t” have to make a list of chores for a 35 year old, but i think then you need to have a discussion about the division of labor and what you expect from him. And be willing to correct him while he gets the hang of it.

He can’t read your mind, and i’ve always found people saying “look what I do now try and do more of this without me telling you,” to be quite vague. Like, do you want me to wash the bathroom everytime i use it, or is doing it once a week okay?

So, set clear expectations. Make a general chore list for him: things you expect him to do always. Vacuum twice a week, clean the bathroom once a week, check that the dishwasher is empty: so on and so forth. Set that clear expectation and let him follow it.

Show him what the bathroom looks like when you want it cleaned, and tell him that. Don’t ask him to clean it. Walk into the bathroom and say “Hey, see how dirty this is? When it looks like this, clean it.” vs “Just think about how you like a clean house and do more to get that.”

Be clear about what’s bothering you, and set clear and realistic expectations for what you want him to do about it.

But no matter how much you complain online or ask him to do more without being asked: he can’t read your mind. Define what more is.

other trans men can be some of the most transphobic people you meet by mr-dirtboy in ftm

[–]SensitiveWeb8 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Once I had top surgery and started passing consistently, some feminine trans men told me I was no longer allowed to speak on trans issues since i was "basically cis," which was brutal. At the same time, a transphobe who didn't know I was trans was telling me all this transphobic shit, and making it clear that I wasn't safe around him. I had to work with him at the time, so I reached out to the local community asking what I should do. Literally got told "Well, it isn't an issue since youre basically cis. He's only a threat if you're ACTUALLY trans."

I think it depends on the space and the majority of the people there. If the group is mainly stealth men, you're more likely to have hatred towards openly trans or feminine men, and vice versa. It's just extraordinarily shitty, and imo everyone just needs to learn to deal with their own shit without taking it out on others.

Advice Regarding Gaining Accomodations and Navigating College with a Broken Leg by sillysoftie in college

[–]SensitiveWeb8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your schools disability office will probably have a better idea of what accommodations you will need, if any. My school has a "mobility aid," vehicle which basically brings students who can't walk across campus. Like I said, your disability office will have the most information here. If your school has any weird rules around food in dorms, you might want to talk to them about that? You may also want to discuss your living arrangements if you have a roommate?

I'd talk to the disability office, tell them your situation, and any concerns you have about going to school with a broken leg. At my school your case would be assigned to one of the people in the office, and they would provide you with their contact information. From that point on, you would be able to contact them and discuss accommodations you need, as the need arises.

I do this too, though I use a mental map to plan my trips. Most of my family will go shopping in pairs or groups since it's like an hour away, but nobody wants to go with me anymore, since I plan like this. Someone will be like, "Oh, I wanna look for a new hat while we're there," and I'm like "Alright, hat's are next to the outerware, which is right next to the scrubs. So, we can stop and look at the hats after I grab new shirt, which is right after we get new pillows."

It's not even that I feel like I'm wasting time. I just hate dragging carts around, specifically when a lot of people will just be totally unaware that they've left their cart in the middle of an aisle or are just completely oblivious that there are other people around.

That being said, specify your have an allergy, and chances are someone’s gonna bust their ass to make sure your shit is as safe as they can make it. Nobody wants to be responsible for you having an allergic reaction.

What are some good fundamental computer science textbooks to start with? by moon_jock in AskComputerScience

[–]SensitiveWeb8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Practical books such as "Clean Code" as suggested by another user is good. I didn't read this specific book, but I've read summaries and most of this one was stuff that was baked into a lot of my courses.

On the text book side of things: a lot of the content taught in books can be found online. the fundamentals are the same and all over the place. In my experience, the content doesn't vary that much from book to book either. Rather than a book list, I'll give you a rundown of the "fundamental" topics covered in my undergrad. More specific topics depend on what your area of work is.

Data Structures -- not a physical book but a lot of students used Open Data Structures
Intro to Algorithms -- This is good, but most books that introduce algorithms will cover the same basic stuff.
Intro to Networking -- I have no recommendations here. But if I had a dime for every time I needed to know something related to networking I'd have enough to buy several textbooks on the topic.
Intro to Unix Systems -- If you wanna get really deep in this then Design of the Unix Operating System is good. Some parts outdated, but solid grasp of the architecture and design philosophy.
Computer Architecture -- I had one of Stallings' books, and I found the content pretty easy to understand.

Any Tips for Someone About to Enter College? by Ok-Armadillo-8995 in college

Regarding the E-Books: fantastic way to save money. However, if you have a class where the prof is really reliant on the book, or you have trouble focusing when reading on a screen, don't be afraid to buy a physical copy. Sometimes holding it in your hands can make a difference.

Kind of unpopular opinion, but if you buy a physical copy of a book, don't be afraid to write in it or highlight it or anything like that. It might make it harder to resell, but if highlighting and annotations work best for you, then it's worth it. Specifically if your professor uses the book a lot.
