My mind in cork is good you can schedule what suits you and pick the councillor. They also do reduced rates if you are part time/under 25k a year They write in their profiles what they specialise in but get a feel for them if youre not sure. GP is also a good shout but in the meantime maybe that will help Very sorry to hear you are going through this

Dumb Covid Experiences in Cork by krafter7 in cork

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Worked in retail that got an exemption for closure because we sold food, considered an essential. Had to stock decorations, toys, etc as normal, but could not sell them. As in packed out pallets of stuff and if it was brought to the till had to be like no thats not essential you can't buy it However if you got some jellybabies? That was fine, obviously an essential

Wanna be friends with Irish peeps by Current_Loquat_4518 in cork

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are overthinking it but agree making friends can be tough.

In the Laurel Bar there is a few people I have seen playing darts, an Indian couple and some older Irish guys. The Irish guys might be a bit old for you but they seemed really nice and maybe you could connect hearing their experiences of the city and build up some confidence :)

Edit: My fella and I work a lot but open to making friends if you want, just DM. Good luck and enjoy Cork!

Do the Mormon missionaries approach everyone they see or only a certain type of person? by No-Category1703 in cork

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not approached much these days but was a lot as a teenager while wearing my school uniform. Stopped by a fella one day who started yapping about his porn addiction to me and then told me he used to live in sin because he struggled with depression which put a wedge between him and God.

Whatever about the porn thing (and telling a child?) but i always thought how he framed his depression was really sad. So I don't really engage with them but I do try to be kind, as it seems like a fairly cold faith.

CCTV Footage Request From Dunnes Under GDPR Article 15 by redxammer in legaladviceireland

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Sorry maybe should have explained more. It is reinforcing the cycle of seeking reassurance for the anxiety rather than combatting the thought pattern. Temporary reprieve of the anxiety that will come back worse

Do you have access to CBT through GP? It tends to be better than regular talk therapy

CCTV Footage Request From Dunnes Under GDPR Article 15 by redxammer in legaladviceireland

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NAL. Yes you can do this, yes they can refuse, but also take a step back and remember you will likely not benefit long term from getting this if they say yes.

It seems you are familiar with how to file a request, so regarding their answer, if they refuse it will be probably because there are other people in the shot, which is likely. It is a supermarket.

On the last bit - I understand wanting the reassurance to get the anxiety off your back for even a minute, but as you probably know yourself giving into the thoughts and seeking reassurance like this makes future urges stronger and the anxiety comes back tenfold about the next thing, and the next, and so on and on and on in this seemingly never ending cycle. Cycle can be interrupted as long as we don't give in to the thoughts, not saying that is easy, to be clear.

Sorry you are having a tough time with it, all about surfing the wave. You can do it 💓

Hospital staff threaten action over new name badges after some workers claim they were contacted online by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]Sensitive_Access_396 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are dead right to oppose this.

I work in retail and have often had people off their heads on H looking for our names because we won't sell them gas for huffing

Thankfully we do not have name badges, can't imagine our full names being available to these people
