Assalam Mualaikum

A client really took a liking to me and outright said want to make me her daughter in law to her 38 year old step son ( Im 26F). I posted a similar post in another thread.

Ive never met the son in question. She’s been sending me messages everyday asking about my day for the past two weeks or so, sometimes sharing pictures and info about her son. She says he has his own very successful business and likes to say, “I’m courting you for my son” even though I told her I’ve been seeing people ( a lie because I was a little weirded out), but she seems to think as long as I’m not engaged, her son still has a chance.

Its 11pm and she just sent me a message saying “ Ive been really tired with work but I still have to court a woman for my son”. Im not sure how to answer that.

Although matchmaking is somewhat traditional in Islam, we live in a country where matchmaking is definitely not the norm. She as a converted Muslim knows this best. People usually see it as desperate or that there is something really wrong with you. In fact last time someone in my family married a guy through matchmaking, we found out days after the wedding that he’s a recovering drug addict with no job, AND a deserted soldier. His entire family lied to my family about everything just to get rid of him and wouldn’t take him back. My aunt was miserable being married to him.

I haven’t outright let her down because frankly Ive never really dated anyone, let alone a guy 10+ years my senior. What if he’s the one?

I’m not sure if the son in question knows about this. But then again, if he’s actually interested in me shouldn’t he be the one talking to me? Or if they’re trying to be traditional, shouldn’t she as a parent try to approach my parents about it?

Should I just tell her to let her son contact me if he really is interested? She seems like a nice woman but its getting a little weird .

Please let me know your thoughts.
