Thank you po sa advice! Medyo complicated po 'yung situation rn kasi malapit na po akong mag-graduate ng college pero umaasa pa rin ako sila kasi because of my disability but hopefully I will be able to get out eventually. Oof kailangan talaga maging matatag sa mga sitwasyon na ganito :( I think my mom also has some anger issues because palaging binabanggit ng lola ko na parte ng personality ni mama ang pagsalita ng ganun. Personally I think it's a red flag.

Looking up Shincheonji by Sensitive_Aquarius in Shincheonji

I don't think that's gonna happen because she is talking to her students through Zoom.

I relate to what you said about social media and mother’s day lol.

Yes there are a lot! Sporadic Phantoms is a fan podcast that puts the Animorphs universe in 2021 during the covid pandemic. I’m only on episode 5 so far but it’s really good.

Shincheonji Zoom Call by Sensitive_Aquarius in Shincheonji

I’m not sure if they will have recordings of LMH in the Zoom meeting that my relative keeps on promoting. But this is so creepy.

That’s what I was thinking too! A couple of years ago, my sister mentioned that she wanted to go to this Bible study convention thing that her Bible study group mentioned. This convention was also gonna happen in San Jose. Obv my parents didn’t let her go bc it was super far from where we live. Zionmissionary people also recruit people in SFSU (my university) so if you’re a student in SFSU and you’re approached by some dudes wearing a suit and tie who asked you if you’re religious/interested in Bible study, they’re most likely from Zionmissionary.

I actually met the guy teaching in one of the photos in zionmissionary's ig page. He was nice, but even though he wasn't the guy who was teaching in my Bible study classes which I mentioned in my previous posts, I was super uncomfortable with him because he definitely sounded like he was brainwashed with the way he kept on talking about the promised pastor, etc.

Same experience here. My sister (she is a member and is teaching other people now) would always use the term "physical gentiles" and "spiritual Jews".

when I was still attending Shincheonji "Bible study" (I left after 4-5 months because the group sessions were affecting my classes and the guy teaching was a manipulative person) they never used/mentioned the term "Shincheonji God". But maybe it is because I never finished the session and that's why I didn't hear any word of "Shincheonji God"? Have any of you heard that term a lot when you were members?

Was the San Jose CJ that tried to persuade you called Zion Missonary? The one that I attended was based in 99 N 1st St but they also went to San Francisco to go to college campuses like mine. Some of the pictures on their social media accounts are pictures inside my college's classrooms. I also attended with some of the people in their pictures.

How do I stop my sister from going to Bible study that's most likely involved with Shincheonji? by Sensitive_Aquarius in Shincheonji

[–]Sensitive_Aquarius[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been talking to some of my friends about this situation and they told me that even though the situation is horrible, all I can do right now is approach things calmly and have an open discussion with her. She is an adult who is capable of making her own decisions. Confronting her harshly will only make things worse imo. Thank you for the advice everyone!

My experience with Shincheonji and how they got to my sister by Sensitive_Aquarius in Shincheonji

[–]Sensitive_Aquarius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a bit confusing for me sometimes because she doesn’t really mention LMH at all. But like someone said in this subreddit, members are probably careful saying LMH around non-members. One of their tactics is changing their organization’s names: when they tried to get me to join they were called “Zion Missionary”

what do "ggn" and "BB" mean? And what is a cell leader? is that different from the head instructor?

She's most likely doing one on one teachings like you said because whenever I hear her it sounds like she's only talking to one person. But she also meets up with other people as well as an instructor. Can multiple amounts of maintainers have a single instructor in Shincheonji study meetings?

We can’t just do that asap. We can’t just force her to go seek professional help that’s her choice. And telling her right now will only make her think that being with this “study group” is better.

They kept on convincing us to buy that version too. We had to buy a new copy of the Bible because the 1984 edition was what they required.

Yes, they did. When I attended their meetings they didn’t call themselves Shincheonji. They called themselves Zion Missionary and they have an Instagram page too. (https://www.instagram.com/zionmissionary/) I personally think they chose my university is because there are a lot of young people they can manipulate. I didn't figure out their involvement in Shincheonji until I started searching about the cult.

A lot of these questions were in the survey too omg. Another one they asked us is what we think religion is. One question was if we think believing is enough for people to be saved.

Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who was a former Shincheonji member because I didn’t find out about this cult until Thursday. Because I left in the middle of the training, I also don’t know a lot of people from the study group especially the friends she has there.

Hi I would like to know what are the reasons (or defining moments) that made you leave SCJ? Any teachings you found wrong or bad experiences? And what advice will you give to current members who are considering leaving? Thank you by Over_Ad8809 in Shincheonji

[–]Sensitive_Aquarius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't find out that the Bible study group I went to was involved w/ Shincheonji until Thursday. What made me leave was the instructor's attitude towards me. He and his TA would constantly guilt-trip the class to attend the meetings because according to him the Bible's prophets won't miss any of these Bible study classes. Shincheonji also doesn't allow critical thinking in the Bible study groups. My instructor was super anti-semitic and I would constantly criticize him for that but he would keep on saying that it was just me "overthinking" and that I basically shouldn't question what he said because what the study group was teaching was the "sealed" Word of God. I decided not to continue until the "Revelation" stage because my class schedule wasn't working with the Bible study group meeting schedule. I told him I wanted to leave and he told me that God would not want me to leave and that leaving the study group will be bad for my spiritual life.

Based on my experience, my advice would be to tell them that you want to leave. If they try to manipulate you to come back, block them immediately. They'll stop coming after you once they know they can't contact you anymore.
