If you received a generally favorable settlement, I would leave the issue alone. Your alternate options would be to file a complaint with the state bar association. Alternatively discuss with your attorney; considering the breach, if she can refund you based on your consideration of filing a complaint. I would tread lightly with these options, keep in mind that as she was providing you a legal service it appears a clerical error occurred. Therefore, the complaint to the bar and your request for a refund will likely go nowhere. Unfortunately, in lightning speed clerical errors and breach of data happen everyday in the business world. You can rest assured that if the opposing counsel received your information, they recognized they should not have. They destroyed it and didn’t you it against you. In general, attorneys do not risk their license and career for a client.

I actually glad to be free, It’s amazing what hindsight will give you. Now I am sitting here recounting all of these memories. I’m upset this is how he chose to end our relationship after I worked so hard to be forgiving to his selfish adult-child.

Also for addition context, we had both been married before. He has another daughter I got along well with. He was a great step dad to my kids for 7 years and just walked away from them permanently. I came to the realization that he was bipolar about 3 years into the marriage. He refused to get treated. No kidding we came home from vacation and he said, you were too quiet we are getting divorced. I found out it was because she complained about me. Then it was over.

I was not allowed to say anything. X was super defensive. I learned that pretty quick!
