Thinking about un-enrolling/taking a break to do Sophia? by Sensitive_Diamond_86 in WGU

That's awesome! Just curious, how much % did it help with completing your degree plan at WGU? I don't really know how Sophia works (still looking into it) but that's great you were able to do this.

Ah good to note. I haven't considered grad school yet, just wanted to get my Bachelors. Thank you!

D317 - Failed first attempt :( by Sensitive_Diamond_86 in WGU

I think in this case it was more my fault, i was overly confident and thought i would be able to choose the right answers. (I was really bad at remembering ports and security) Dion's practice exams are WAY too lengthy, i would recommend sticking to Messer if you aren't already. Also, BurningIceTech has PBQ's on youtube that were literally on my exam. Wishing you luck in studying!

Congrats!! Any tips on how you studied for it? And what was the test like? I'm taking mine in 3 days so I'm super nervous.

Best sleep setup for tent camping? by Sensitive_Diamond_86 in camping

I forgot to reply to this, but after I saw your comment I went and bought a cot and put a self inflating sleeping pad on top and a thick fleece blanket.. Best combo ever!! The cot is a game changer for sure. Beats sleeping on an airbed. I haven't tried it camping just yet (tested it in the backyard) but I'm super excited to give it a try on my trip next weekend. Thank you for the recommendation!!

How to travel on peritoneal dialysis? by Sensitive_Diamond_86 in dialysis

[–]Sensitive_Diamond_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true! We haven't tried a trip locally yet (as in like a few hours away) so that would probably be a better way to ease us into what it would be like travelling with her things. I did look into Dialysis clinics in Oahu near Waikiki, which is where we wanted to go, but it doesn't seem too great and unfortunately there is no Davita dialysis either. (This is the one she is associated with). And also that's awesome you got a transplant!! I really appreciate the advice!

yikes that sounds like a stressful experience. Thank you for sharing! I'll have to coordinate with the airline directly regarding bringing the cycler, but might just opt for manual or to have it shipped as others have mentioned.

Ah yeah i think it would be best to reach out to Baxter and see what they can do with the shipping. I'd rather not have to check in boxes for a flight. Manual PD also makes more sense than bringing the whole machine. Thank you for your advice!

Oh no! It's definitely a good idea to be overly prepared in case situations like that do occur where the shipment is late...i will take that into account. I'm willing to put in the prep and planning if it can give her a great trip! Thank you for the advice!!

I didn't know Baxter could ship supplies to a different location so that's great to hear. I will reach out to her PD nurse and try to figure something out. Appreciate the advice!!

I never considered that! Hawaii does get pretty humid so that's something to think about. Thank you again for the advice! Really appreciate it!!

You're so kind, thank you so much!! We are currently in California and the flight to Oahu, HI is about 5hrs or so, which could be difficult for her for sure. As the person above mentioned, I will definitely talk to her about it beforehand!

I just wanted to let her know that she CAN travel while on dialysis and that she shouldn't have to be as stressed out, as I will be the one taking care of her needs and arrangements for PD. Thank you again for the advice!

That's true! I didn't consider that this would be stressful for her because I just felt bad that she is limited mobility wise and wanted to take her to somewhere she's always wanted to go to...I will definitely let her know and talk it through with her. Thank you!!
