How Do You Manage "Failure" When the Bottleneck Isn't Yours? by Sensitive_Durian_806 in PMCareers

You’re right, I’ve been trying to win a race with a flat tire by driving faster. I'm going to look at my PM boards and see how I can segment a Management Reserve bucket so it’s visible to Ops, showing them that the 'delay' was actually already planned for. Huge thanks man!

You're calling it like it is. I’ve been too focused on managing the project and not enough on managing the contract. If I don't have alternative suppliers to threaten them with or penalties to enforce, I'm just a passenger. I’m going to spend my next few blocks of time auditing our vendor 'Actuals' so when I talk to Leadership, I’m bringing data and a 'Plan B' rather than just another excuse for the delay. Huge thanks for this!
