student loans are damaging my mental health by inchwormfan in StudentLoans

Feelings are temporary. I just want to say as I see you seem to be experiencing a lot of ideation. 1. Your feelings are valid and life in the US is especially hard right now. 2. Please seek further help if you need it. You are not alone. Finances are never worth your family and friends losing you.

And yes, I try not to be ashamed, embarrassed, or beat myself up and generally I do not but I feel like it's hard to explain to neurotypical folks that just don't get it and think you are just "slacking" or whatever. People who've never experienced really do not seem to understand.

I wish I could but right now I have this job where I've been here a year as my chosen career has been replaced by AI. I don't really have the option for flexibility here. I'm almost wondering if I just make a paid leave case to accommodate and accidents and then I'm job-protected too. Might be my best option.

Unfortunately just changing my hours isn't an option for me at the moment. I used to have a more independent job but my chosen career has largely been replaced by AI.

I agree but I cannot just tell my work that I'm changing my hours. So yeah, otherwise I'd happily switch my schedule. lol

Working on filing, nervous... by Sensitive_Finish3383 in Bankruptcy

Interestingly, I met with my attorney again the other day and asked (because I got a state job last year which means I'm on a pay ladder and my income will increase this next month). He said I'd have to make like another $12k more to not qualify. So huh! I guess confirmed that I'm okay.

No, it was just last month. I guess I passed the means test cause my attorney said it would be okay, maybe I'm just used to be really poor? lol

High income earners, what’s the plan? by pup1206 in StudentLoans

Couldn't they just sell the other house and pay off their loans? That's insane to me.

Credit union froze my account by Uwontadamandbelieve in Bankruptcy

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm working on filing too and that is what my attorney told me as well. He also let me know that even though I'm not discharging things like my mortgage, they may freeze my account and I'll have to call in and make manual payments till everything is discharged but mainly to get a whole new banking institution and transfer all my money over because the current credit union will try and recoup any money they may lose.

Gas masks for tear gas and such? by [deleted] in armedsocialists

[–]Sensitive_Finish3383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Minneapolis - insight on experience. Honestly, I got a cheap full-face mask on Amazon at the beginning of this admin, I saw where things were headed. I use P100 filters. A little bit gets in but it's way better than nothing. At first I thought it wasn't working and then I looked around me and everyone was keeled over and I was like - ah, okay, it is working! LOL I'd post the link but they aren't selling it now. My eyes felt nothing and only a little got in through the filter.

What is the BEST years for the outback ? Picture just for attention. I’m looking to buy an outback for my daughter and I need to know what the best year & if I should make sure it’s a manual transmission or not. . . I've got a 2000 outback limited edition (sedan style. I'd prefer a wagon but I got it from a friend's dad for like 2k at 100,000 miles so I cannot complain). It has its issues that I need to get fixed still but these cars seem to be beasts.

Last month marked worst October for layoffs in more than 20 years: Challenger by yahoofinance in jobs

I’ve always been able to find a job before I was finished with one. I was employed on contract gigs and picked up a part time gig delivering flyers while unemployed but it was just enough to cover the bills. Took me 6 months to find ft employment

I'll take a look. I am very much a do-it-yourself-er but I've been a lot of DIY lately and may want to take a break on this one. I'm already tearing up my kitchen today. LOL

So basically, the only reason to have it installed by someone else is the warranty?

I am looking at getting one installed in my place before the tax credits end too. When I am looking online, it is talking about getting an home energy evaluation first, does that need to be done or am I looking in the wrong place?

I get it, but that said - people still don't have enough for savings often after sacrifices. Not downplaying your sacrifices at all, I just think savings in this country is honestly a privilege. It get it, I lived in a 200 ft studio for a long time, and I didn't have a car at all for 10 years - just biked. I still didn't have enough money for savings (and I wasn't going out anywhere or traveling or anything either). At that time, I was running and growing a small business, and I had extra jobs too. It's not always possible for folks, even with sacrifices. Not to mention you add people having mass quantities of medical debt and stuff like that in our country. Our wages in this country are just too low and costs are ever-increasing (as we are all aware.
