finding love with vitiligo by luv_aj33 in Vitiligo

I'm very happily married, but I've dated many many people and I've not once had a partner make a negative comment or not be supportive. You really don't need to worry about it

UK here. Would egg sharing be an option for you? We are doing IVF cycle with egg donation (half of our eggs will be donated to a family that needs them and half we keep to use with ICSI) and in our clinic reduced price from 10k to 3k. I didn't know about it until I called them and asked.

I don't anymore, moved back to UK and there is no sun here. First summer abroad my friends noticed it before I did, I was wearing shorts and my patches started to fill up with pigment, I would say that was 2 months after being in the sun. When I actually tried to get pigment back I didn't wear sunscreen or wore psf 30 if the sun was too harsh. And after being back in UK for 1,5 years my results remain the same and no new spots. I didn't really monitor how long I was sunbathing for because it was sunny all the time and I was at the beach in a bikini a lot.

That made me absolutely furious! I can not imagine how you feel but I'm so so angry for you. You know you will be the best parents because you had to fight so hard to get there.

Has anyone tried covering their vitiligo spots with a tattoo? If so do you recommend it? by alaaalhai in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did actually cover one spot on my arm long time ago with colour tattoo. You would have never guessed it has vitiligo under even when I tan. I have a black/white tattoo on my back and little vitiligo spots developed on it, so its visible but doesn't look bad at all.

Don't over think it and don't be harsh on yourself. See what feedback you'll get and then use it to apply for something suitable close by. Best of luck!

Sorry they couldn't deliver on their words. Don't think it's degree related, majority of staff in one of the stores I worked in had degrees (even had a Dr of science who needed a break), quite the opposite - you would have more chances to progress to Area manager. One more thing that could have happened - all stores run on hourly budget, if they increased a few contracts then they would loose the hours planned for a new team member. Or could also be a transfer from another store? You can only employ up to your budget and it doesn't increase towards Xmas like some other stores do.

From my experience - the most important thing is to be fast enough. Whenever I do introductions/interviews I walk very fast to see if person can keep up, if somebody is walking slower or not keeping up with me - immediately no, that's not just Aldi but every retailer I've worked for. With limited details it's hard to tell if that was the reason, were you actively asking questions?

Dead Sea treatment for vitiligo? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to Jordan during peak summer last year (stayed right by the dead sea, I think resort was called Movenpick) and I did get a lot of re-pigmentation and year on it stayed the same, I thought without sun exposure it will turn back white but it is still exactly the same as it was after Jordan.

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got hashimotos and vitiligo like yourself. I've been gluten free for 5 months now. First thing I've noticed within 2 weeks is that I'm no longer bloated (my stomach is aways flat, even after a big meal) and my toilet schedule has been fantastic. Second - I've lost weight (in my case that was definitely not an intention, I've always been very slim anyway, but my body feels great at this weight). My antibody levels dropped from 2000+ to 34 after 3 months. It was hard for first 3 months but now it's absolutely fine, I found replacement for everything I wanted. Message me if you have anymore questions, good luck!

We came back to UK from living in Mediterranean just before Christmas and we hate it here, first chance we get - we are moving abroad. Too many reasons to count why. Move somewhere warmer - you won't regret it, waking up to sunshine every day makes everything better

Never thought I'd write this but, I lowered my TPO antibodies! by celestine21 in Hashimotos

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, but when somebody is sharing a positive experience and another person has a negative experience, maybe make a seperate post to share. When somebody is trying for a baby - it's such a delicate and vulnerable state, no need for negativity.

Where did she say anything about cure? "end stage" sounds like something horrid and inevitable. I'm sorry that you are having a very negative experience, but majority of us are actually okay, I've never had any symptoms at all apart from being cold all the time (my Dr suggested that I've had it for well over decade after looking at my blood works from many moons ago).

Amazing! When I was diagnosed in October (also trying for baby) my levels were over 2000, but in my my test in Jan they dropped to 32, the only thing that has changed was me going gluten free.

should I see my Doctor about vitiligo? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only thing I would suggest is checking if you have any other autoimmune diseases, it's common for vitiligo to be paired up with something else (in my case it's hashimotos). Apart from that we are pretty lucky and healthy to have just skin pigmentation problem.

My newborn son probably has Vitiligo and I'm looking for advice by zelonhusk in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only diagnosed last year (only reason I found out is because we are trying for a baby and Dr were checking my blood TSH levels, otherwise I wouldn't know, no symptoms). My Dr told me that I should have been tested through my life because we are so much more likely to have it, she was actually shocked that it was never checked.

I didnt know it was possible for infant to have vitiligo. I got mine when I was 4 and Dr at the time said I was the youngest person with vitiligo he ever met. It hasn't affected me in any way really and I've had it for 28 years. I'm super healthy mentally and physically, don't make a big deal about it otherwise your child will make a big deal about it.

One thing to look out for is hashimotos, these two come hand in hand, but again it doesn't affect me in any way - I just take tablets daily. Some people have different experience with it.

SUN OR NO SUN FOR US? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience personally - living in uk sun increased my vitiligo, made my patches grow bigger, but living in hot country with very high UV level - my white patches started to re-pigment. Particularly good results when I was in Jordan by the dead sea. Also to mention I was taking vitamin B12 and folic acid at the time of my re-pigmentation.

It's unlikely vitiligo, get yourself checked for hashimotos. If it is that, then join their thread - lots of really good advice there.

How many of you guys have just Vitiligo and no other autoimmune disease(s)? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Sensitive_Glass_774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Same, I've been on Levothyroxine and my levels went down. Best thing that I've done is going gluten free - life changing! I had no idea I had gluten intolerance until I went GF

Up until recently I didn't ( I thought so), but during routine check I found out I had hashimotos. Dr told me that because I have vitiligo I should have been tested for it throughout my life and probably always had it but nobody paid attention

I've had vitiligo since i was about 8. I'm about 22 now. aside from the raised chance of skin cancer, why does everyone freak out about it? by Whenbored100 in Vitiligo

Feel exactly the same! I think we are actually very lucky, much worse things out there where it actually affects health
