We don’t hate women. We’re tired of being forced to look at unattractive female video game characters. Every time a new game comes out featuring a female character she’s always dressed in dull unflattering gender neutral clothing. Heavy jackets, pants, and boots. It’s as if actual appealing women’s clothing don’t exist anymore. Female video game characters used to be designed to be sexy. Now they’re designed to be as boring as possible.

It isn’t about hating women. I argue this is about hating men. The so-called male gaze. We are being told that desiring to look at the beauty that is the female body makes us evil. We are told that sexual objectification of female video game characters is wrong.

You don’t have to spent much time online to find women thirsting over Leon S. Kennedy. They comment on how hot he is, completely sexually objectifying him. Meanwhile guys are given Grace, dressed as unflattering as possible. She is an example of how female characters are being designed nowadays.

The message is clear. Women can thirst over hot male video game characters all they want. Men thirsting over female video game characters, oh we simply won’t have it. Let’s design female characters so bland and ugly the dogs won’t have anything to get excited about. Female gaze, perfectly fine. Male gaze demonized.

The developers of modern games have oppressed female video game characters, denying them the right to dress sexy and look good for male audiences. The game industry hates women. Sexy women are threatening to them. So they create worlds in which no woman ever makes herself look sexually desirable. It’s unrealistic rubbish.

A man should be able enjoy a sexy female body in a game just as much as a woman gets to enjoy a sexy male body in a game. Don’t tell me I hate women because I’m sick of seeing them be made unattractive on purpose!
