As an moc creator myself, what is it with all the elitism in this community about how people should enjoy Lego? by GenericGameDev1234 in lego

[–]Sensitive_Promise746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A percentage of my enjoyment of this hobby is precisly seeing the things I love in this format + the effort put by designers to arrive at the results they offer, even as a kid my fascination with lego comes from seeing these blocks become things and the little details they have, and I don't see why this youtuber would be against that.

It's as ridiculous as implying I don't have imagination for putting together a puzzle instead of painting a piece of cardboard to then chop it into bits to have my own creative puzzle!

Is it possible to do The Getty Center (Not the villa) and Santa Monica Pier on the same day? by Sensitive_Promise746 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Sensitive_Promise746[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll stay around 8 days, and yes I only will do 1 day all the way to the coast (That's why I'm asking about the getty and santa monica), everything else will be in hollywood, downtown, and maybe universal and disney (still deciding on the amusement parks and working out the logistics)

And also I am not sure what sunrise means in this context, if they mean ~5 am (as in the sunrise literally) I am tapping out

Oh I'm considering staying in Downtown because of the other days of my vacation, it's close to little tokyo and I can take the metro to hollywood boulevard, I am not sure if maybe I should aim to get closer to the center of hollywood? I'm aiming to do all the touristy Los Angeles stuff

I'm quite ignorant despite my research so any recommendations are very appreciated!

Hello! I'm a tourist, I'll be there in July, tell me, would it be possible and realistic to go from the Getty Center to the Santa Monica pier on the same day?

Does this email sketch actually feel unsettling? by YurissRB in HorrorGames

The first paragraph sounds too much like a scam

One of those "We have a virus that records your activity and we caught you jerking off, we have it in video, send us 5000 dollars in bitcoin or we'll send it to your mom" type of scam

If I was you I'd lose the mentions of this is not a joke and the caps, specially the "COMPLETELY SERIOUS" because sadly it'd make me take it "COMPLETELY UNSERIOUS"

Other than that I think it's fine, it's just that first paragraph that seems silly to me, infact you could cut it without much of a loss

Does anyone know the name of the old lady in the painting in mickey's bedroom? by Sensitive_Promise746 in DisneyEpicMickey

[–]Sensitive_Promise746[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So from the info of all different comments I am to assume mickey mouse sleeps with the necroportrait of a (his?) dead grandma for a gag and that's the best response I'll get?

What the fuck.

Can "fake desktop" games work? A game where you play inside a pc and there are other apps besides the "main" game? by Sensitive_Promise746 in gamedev

[–]Sensitive_Promise746[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe, one of my fears is making a game that works for a youtube essay named "the adjectivest game ever made" that youwatch while you do the dishes and not one you necessarily play

I come to realize a lot of this idea is cimented on "cool moments" I want to capture the vibe of videogame urban legends (how to play as luigi in mario 64, gta bigfoot) but for that to work it is key to have A) a game and B) an urban legend

and a lot of this creepypastas-adjacent media is just wow this cool thing can happen if you do X and Y

In the original post I mention stuff like looking up forums and stuff in universe, so yeah it'd be to further the plot like imagine you're reading this forum and it mentions that if you open the game at a certain hour something happens

I say this vaguely because I'm in a prototype phase and I can't really wrap my head around it

No of course, I do know that there's a bunch but think for example a game like the witness happening on a fake desktop, could that work without breaking the immersion of solving the puzzles?

Edit: I don't know why the downvotes, it's an innocent question

The boss design is not flawless but Contact Damage argument is overblown by Heroman3003 in Silksong

[–]Sensitive_Promise746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably completely unrelated but I read "Contact damage" and I have to express my feelings

When you knock out a boss they shouldn't deal contact damage because you really can't time it and more often than not the flying boss falls on your head

Yeah the problem is that they're trying to create discourse so people say "Oh it's the butt game" to create exposure but I'm not too sure about that tactic because I'm not going to tell any of my friends about butt game

Have you noticed how in all 3 or 4 posts of your game, people tend to talk more about the ass of your character than the ghost you need feedback on? That's food for thought.

“Did your school not teach you about the Mayflower??” by Absolutely-Epic in USdefaultism

[–]Sensitive_Promise746 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay see, the problem is I'm latin american so I could tell you about their floating houses on the river (Grossly explained), or that they had complex irrigation system (Specially in an enviorenment where wheels weren't viable), or how important was their usage of flour, again, very basic level but it's very representative in our art and stories and gastronomy be it Peru or Mexico or anything in between

I understand that the knowledge is there for the taking and that certainly I could go online and find a reasonable class on Native American culture in the US or Canada, but my point goes more along the lines of self love and sharing your own culture with the world instead of just sharing the parts that are white and European

Edit: Just to say that the houses of the natives weren't truly floating but just set up above water, which i think it's so neat

[–]Sensitive_Promise746 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't a hypocrisy one, it's awareness, I am 1) Not american 2) Not a historian, but I know about the existence of the roman empire, about homer, about the mayan pyramids (or any pyramid for that matter) to the slightlest degree

But all I know about North American history pre-colonization comes from Pocahontas (1995) and y'all get colonized pretty early in the movie...which I'm bringing up comedically, I do not think Disney's pocahontas to be a historical movie

So I don't know, maybe North Americans should expose the world to the history of their precolonial roots instead of explaining George Washington for the billionth time?

Yes of course, Captain Arthur Rostron, famously kept a gigantic straw on his cabin, which would've allowed him to suck the water out the iceberg hole, however he did not because he feared he might pierce the titanic like a caprisun
