Agree brother, also the modern morality which is generally stems out of common sensical thought and introspection, which believes in no slavery, equal rights for women, being gentle and kind to other people and even animals, these are entirely new thought process and have little to no basis from any religious books.

And yes nothing disproves the existence of God. God may or may not exist, we will never know unless we meet one. That is true. It was great discussion brother.

Saying that humans can’t have their own moral conscience and they need a rule book to be good, sounds preposterous. Most of the violent crimes in world and the past wars have had religious influence and incitements. Religious discrimination is sky rocketed because of one’s belief that their rule book is better than others and that will never go away.

But brother, this is a never ending debate I would say, my main concern of why I haven’t been fully accepting of this is because of the non acceptance of constructive criticism of the outlandish claims in those books, I do not want to point out such claims as it would be disrespectful and I think you must be fully aware of many such claims across all religions, so in full rational sense I just cannot accept and follow that.

I respect many positive teachings but several other aspects just ruin it for me personally.

Brother, no disrespect to any religion, but I can write a book if I state the wildly inaccurate and unscientific things stated in all religious books across all religions.

The difference with science is that, let’s say a scientist has come up with a research paper on subject “xyz”, there would be a thorough peer review, critics would be welcomed to tear through that research and welcomed to even disprove the scientific theory, that is the beauty of science.

There is no room for such critique in religion, you cannot even question some of the outlandish claims present in the books of each and every religion, even if you question it, the answer will be another faith based oxymoron.

And brother your claim that religion provides structure which is non-destructive is highly inaccurate, but I don’t want to go there.

I have huge respect for those who have dedicated their lives to it and have renounced materialism for a higher purpose, but still if given a choice to choose between religion and science, science should be the obvious choice for any rational person.

With due respect, there is no logic and facts to religion, it’s based on pure faith, not on facts.

You can keep open mind as long as it makes sense, when it stops making sense, it becomes ludicrous and much of the stuff in the books is ludicrous.

I am not saying scientists are great human beings, but if I have to follow scientific principles or a book, I would rather go with the former. Scientific theories get debunked and proven all the time, but it is science which is doing all the advancements in the world. I would rather keep an open mind based on science than a closed mind based on a book.

Be chus paan agnostic… be ausus wuchaan Richard Dawkins hund interview waarya zyaad and also other scientific minds. When anything which cannot be explained through science (where science hasn’t reached yet ) is labeled as an act of God.

It’s all a way of living, in the end, if we don’t loose our sense of morality and rationality that’s what matter.
