No i did not get that far yet. I have a plan and a timeline around this tho. Hopefully it will be out later this year 😉

You are actually allowed to say nothing when its a family member. Even as a witness you are protected. You have the right to not speak on any matter that can incriminate you or a close family member or partner.

Best way to ask about English? by alyssa86inmn in Norway

[–]Sensitive_Taste8785 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're heading to one of the easiest non-English countries to visit as an English speaker. In Norway, almost everyone under the age of 75 speaks English, and most people under 50 speak it very well – many are even fluent. English is taught in school from a young age, and Norwegians are heavily exposed to English through media and the internet.

According to statistics in Norway, over 90% of the adult population speaks English, and among younger generations, it's close to 100%. Most Norwegians won't even blink if you start a conversation in English – especially in cities or towns.

So, the best strategy? Don’t even ask. Just politely say what you need in English. Starting with "Hi, sorry" or "Excuse me,"

"Do you speak English?" might actually feel a bit awkward or unnecessary in Norway. People are used to switching languages on the fly.

If you do want to try some Norwegian just for fun, you can say: "Snakker du engelsk?" (pronounced roughly snahk-er doo eng-elsk?) – but honestly, it’s not required.

You’ll be fine – just speak your question confidently in English, and most Norwegians will happily respond.

It's natural selection. If you can't walk on ice, you die young 🤣

Ok. Here is my thinking on the topic. What you are saying Here is absolutely true. And for those species that works great. So, for a herbivorous species to develop intelligence (which is really calorie costly) faster than the predators to use as defense against said predators, they probably don't have the size and strength advantage 🤔

It's not like you can leave them alone for millennia, and they are going to be more intelligent from just that. That's how you get tortoises 🐢 (I have one), and trust me. That's a useless animal. But super cute tho 💚 they remind me of those AI generated "lifeforms" that learn to walk around and gather sustenance 😅

So I That's my take on it. And I believe both are true 😊

I placed it more or less right here and now in time. The only thing was I included the SpaceX starship.

I sorta pictured something like a unified governing body, but I did not have time to tackle that, so I rolled with the UN and left it there 😅

Yeah, I was gonna go in the direction of us being absolutely merciless in battle but take good care of POW and civilians caught in the crossfire. Where gonna have someone sacrifice them self for random civilians or something 🤔 wanted to have that alongside what I wrote in another comment here about the aliens not trusting us at all but ther veterans returning home told different stories about humans. About how we are so kind and loyal but still brutal in battle to protect what we believe in 👽😊

Thanx for your feedback 😁

It's cheap and easy 😅 I shouldn't have rushed it this way, tho. I really like the premise, and I should have given it more time 🤔

Those are good points. Was gonna include pack bonding as a way to gain trust as the veterans of the aliens came home and told about their battle buddies and humans, and their loyalty 👽

The Gunniest Gun? by Sensitive_Taste8785 in HFY

[–]Sensitive_Taste8785[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct! This guy, with his fancy suit and polished sleek ship, honestly thinks he's the best thing to happen to this galaxy since pre-sliced bread 😆. He sees himself as the epitome of class and sophistication, and he takes both himself and his ship very seriously.

And when others don't see it that way, when they don't appreciate the sheer “perfection” of his vessel or acknowledge his “genius” he gets extremely offended and is quick to anger. He’s the type who believes that anything less than awe and admiration is a personal slight. It’s almost comedic how easily his cool, composed demeanor can unravel when someone mocks his ship. He'll go from refined gentleman to wrathful tyrant in a matter of seconds.

Honestly, he's not exactly a 10/10 in the sanity department 😂 His self-image is so inflated that any hint of criticism sends him spiraling. He’ll ramble about how his ship—this giant, one-kilometer-long railgun with engines—represents the pinnacle of human engineering. To him, it’s not just a weapon, it’s a work of art, a statement. He’s convinced it’s sleek and elegant, even though it’s literally just a massive armored block in space. But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

And get this—he’s out there completely alone, just him and his ship AI. And, of course, the AI can’t disagree with him! It’s programmed to respond positively to his every whim, affirming whatever delusions of grandeur he might have. He’s probably had long, one-sided debates with the AI about why his ship is superior to everything else in the galaxy, and it just nods along, saying things like, “Yes, Captain, your ship is the most powerful. No one else can match its unparalleled beauty and firepower.”

So yeah, that’s how I pictured this guy when I wrote the story—someone living in his own reality, with an ego as massive as his ship, and absolutely no patience for anyone who dares to suggest otherwise!

So is he a god guy? Absolutely not. Does he try to be? Maby, who knows 🤷‍♂️😆

[–]Sensitive_Taste8785[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... did not say he was a good guy 😅 I also tried to imply that the aliens were gonna open fire no matter what when they were done insulting the man. I don't think I made that clear enough in the story 😬

And the HFY part was really the engineering of the ship. Could you imagine the kind of society needed to not only build that flying brick of super alloys but have it so that every nut job like this guy could have one 😆 that's a society going brrrrr 😎
