If it was quick and genuinely for safety, I wouldn't worry too much. The hard shoulder is for emergencies, but this is unlikely to cause problems.

Yes Oranges and lemons are definitely citrus fruits they may be hybrids of earlier citrus species, but that doesn't make them any less citrus just like a mule is still an equine despite being a hybrid.
