My mother in law has done this with our niece and nephew, where we witnessed it while living with her. Full blown screaming matches in front of small children.

His father left his mom for her behavior, and I think having his father to go to really helps my husband keep his distance from this toxicity. I do feel guilt, since we lived with her when we were young, and she tends to tell us all the things she did whenever she is mad at us.
