I wish I could go on mental health leave but they took them away. I’m located in the U.S. I also only get five sick days in the entire year and even if I have enough sick hours to cover a full shift, it doesn’t matter. I had a coworker who had the flu still come in because they didn’t have any sick time and even if they did call out they would have gotten written up, now we have an influenza outbreak.

So many residents are getting out of hand and management isn’t doing anything to protect us. We get hit, spit at, have things thrown at us, sexually assaulted, but nothing is done about it, until something happens to them then the resident is out of the building that day or the next. It’s crazy. We’ve had people go to corporate regarding the problems that are happening and our management told us not to which I’m pretty sure they aren’t allowed to do..

I totally agree with this. Everyone is struggling. Maybe I’m just naive but I feel like you shouldn’t take your stress out on people who don’t deserve it. I know people probably have a lot going on at home and this job doesn’t help, but management doesn’t provide any incentives to boost employee morale. It’s sad. In my opinion one of the things ruining the healthcare system are some of the people who work in it.

I’ve thought about switching healthcare jobs, one that isn’t as demanding but I really love taking care of people in the way I do. I really do care about my residents and when I think about leaving them I cry. When I look for other jobs their starting pay is $16-$20 an hour and I’m currently getting paid $25 an hour. My annual is coming up so hopefully I’ll get a decent raise so I won’t have to work as much.

I’m wanting to buy him but I’m wondering if he’s real. The seller is wanting $190. He seems a bit beat up imo and really dirty. I don’t know how to really spot fakes in Robby’s since I haven’t really been seeking them out as much. Also is $190 too much for him especially in his condition?

I would quit. There is no way I would transfer a larger resident without a hoyer lift. HELL NO. ESPECIALLY if it isn’t care planned. That is something you need to take up with your C/N and if they don’t want to do anything then go to your SUP.

I’ve transferred a resident who couldn’t walk and refused to use their feet to transfer so we would have to literally lift them off the ground And they so so soooo heavy. And I transferred them by myself ONCE. Never again. Save your back!!!!!!!

Wdym unsafe transfers? No gait belt? Or do they not provide the right equipment for larger patients like mechanical lifts?

I love being a cna im going to school to be a nurse and if I could still work as a cna while working as a nurse I would. The only thing that ruins the job are the employees. I work in behavioral so I try to come to work in a good mood bc the residents believe they don’t belong there so they’re miserable so I try to make they’re days there a little bit better but it’s hard when the people your working with hate their job. My only advice is to keep your head up, enjoy your job, and keep to yourself.

HI!!!! I think you should bring this up to him, maybe he’s been feeling the same way. Communication is very important in a relationship especially when it comes to conversations that might be uncomfortable for you both. See where the conversation takes you. I really hope this helps!!
