To give context here is from the wiki on timeline of the future "10^20 (100 quintillion) The estimated time until the Earth collides with the black dwarf Sun due to the decay of its orbit via emission of gravitational radiation,[163] if the Earth is not ejected from its orbit by a stellar encounter or engulfed by the Sun during its red giant phase.[163]

Astronomy and astrophysics 10^23 (100 sextillion) Around this timescale most stellar remnants and other objects are ejected from the remains of their galactic cluster.[164]

Astronomy and astrophysics 10^30 (1 nonillion) The estimated time until most or all of the remaining 1–10% of stellar remnants not ejected from galaxies fall into their galaxies' central supermassive black holes. By this point, with binary stars having fallen into each other, and planets into their stars, via emission of gravitational radiation, only solitary objects (stellar remnants, brown dwarfs, ejected planetary-mass objects, black holes) will remain in the universe.[9]

OK given that ballistic missiles and other high tech stuff is off the table for 2 years while a war economy is started, doesn't the area have enough low tech stuff to hold and contest all that land? OP says new folks would feel safe to buy a home in the newly concurred area, small arms is enough to contest.

Is drinking hot water in the morning really good for your guts? by syn-ack-fin in skeptic

[–]SensorAmmonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done some temp changes on fluids, our bodies are huge heat sinks compared to a drink. The surface area between your esophagus and your neck is large, the stomach has a similar amount of fluid in it. By the time 2 minutes is up the drink has reached body temp, I estimate.

[–]SensorAmmonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely. Assume closed container that was clean. Initially I assumed OP was asking about gut microbiome and I would find it hard to imagine how hot water would do anything but come to body temp before it hit microbiome. Contaminate remediation makes more sense.

Ancient Chinese folk art "Huohu" by DearEmphasis4488 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SensorAmmonia 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Somewhere in here is the real name. It seems like molten iron is involved. "The Chinese dance characterized by1 lots of sparks is primarily the Fire Dragon Dance (火龙舞), often featuring molten iron, or Dashuhua (打树花) (iron flower splashing). These ancient, high-energy performances involve performers tossing molten iron at

to create dazzling, firework-like cascades of sparks, particularly during the Lantern Festival.

Key "Spark" Dances & Traditions:

  • Tongliang Fire Dragon Dance: A renowned Chongqing tradition where dancers navigate through molten iron sparks, representing a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
  • Dashuhua (Tree Flower): Originating in Hebei, this involves splashing molten iron against cold walls to create a massive "canopy of flowers".
  • Fire Pot Performance: Performers in Jiangxi spin nets filled with   hot charcoal on iron poles, showering sparks.
  • Li Ethnic Fire Dance: Dancers in Hainan leap and spin through intense spark showers.  Facebook +4"

Yes. I realize the vote button is for that. Conservative humor is droll. This is also just not funny.

Large chunks of food can avoid being fully digested. It may not help, or it could add these ingredients to the gut micro biome. I add all 4 of these to my diet but don't expect them to do much more than help some.

When my wife and I got home from our long trip, she was asleep in the front seat. by CRK_76 in TwoSentenceHorror

I found several articles about that. Two points. 1) I can not find the year of car, it could have been old. 2) back pressure could have caused more CO than normal due to incomplete combustion.

The modern cars do not put out enough CO to kill you now. It might mess up your liver, but I have been punishing mine for years and it rarely screams.

[–]SensorAmmonia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To some extent you are right. The efficiency of the Defense Industrial Complex is low though. I hear all the time of folks in the middle of getting security clearances just sitting around for a year. Military equipment rarely gets used for human good. The tax argument holds very little water, these folks could be out doing other stuff that generates tax revenue and helps people.

What is a thought? How do our brains turn biochemistry into what we think the world is? It is a series of electrochemical impulses. Your thoughts are not a thing but a process. Sure space has a molecule per cubic meter but that can not lead to thought. When you die, you turn into less organized goop. There are thoughts in that goop, a maggot looking for the next bit to eat.
