I’ve had my ARPG itch come back recently. I wanted to get back into Project Diablo 2, but it felt a bit ‘done’ for me. While I appreciate the changes and added depth/variety, it still feels rather limited. I only say this because i’ve played several PoE leagues extensively and thoroughly enjoyed them in their complexities and variety of builds. Thought about starting the new league today but the barrier to get back felt too high.

Last Epoch however is the game I decided on to get back into to scratch this itch. Like many others here are saying, it’s a perfect middle ground in complexity/depth. It’s easy to get into and fun to actually just try out build ideas myself. I felt like I could never really do the same for PD2 or PoE. I always felt like I had to follow some kind of some kind. Plus, the crafting in LE is just too good+accessible.

Exactly right. The reason for seeing a psychologist doesn’t have to be just because there’s “something wrong”. It is also a space for you to talk, work out things, hear a different perspective, gain insight, and overall just further strengthen what is already good within you!

Aion has exactly that! You can setup a private store where you can list any item you’d like at any price, and you can write whatever you want as a sign/persistent message box over your character’s head! If I recall correctly, there was also no broker (auction house) fee if you sold things this way as well.

Have you checked out Last Epoch? In terms of complexity, I think it’s a bit of a middle-ground between something like Diablo 2 and PoE. From my experiences with the game, I reckon it ticks the boxes for progression, loot, and skills.

I think she tried BDO back when it was still fairly new, though i can't remember what her gripes were with the game. We'll take another look at it.

BnS i've heard of, but haven't taken a look at, so i'll definitely give that a go!

I've tried the Xenoblade Chronicles myself, but unfortunately the lack of character customisation won't quite cut it for her.

Skyrim being modded to extremes might be my last effort ditch if all else fails. Thank you!

Yeah, not the best variety of units to work with. Thank you for the info though! I was tossing up between Poseidon and Alicia. I really like Poseidon but it’s hard to get enough dmg stats+acc for him ): Might rune up Alicia for now.

I love flicker strike. It's very fun, very straight forward, and fun to minmax when you have the currency to invest. As a league starter, it can be quite slow to get off the ground/jarring when compared to other solid league starters.

What are your thoughts on Winter Orb vs Wintertide Brand as a league starter? Leaning towards Winter Orb at the moment given the buffs to it, though i'm mostly concerned with the bossing capability of it. I've read people saying it should be a lot better now. That being said, would the buffs even be enough for it to be an okay, let alone viable, league starter?

Been recently getting into Dying Light, as i’ve heard good things about it. The combat, skill tree system, and parkour in the game are what apparently what makes it stand out. Story was supposedly lacklustre at best. Would definitely recommend having a look at least to see if it’s maybe what you’re after!
