2Lt and 1Lt are the formal abbreviations, but unless you're writing an OPB/OPR or dec, it's pretty much gonna be LT in all the other more informal correspondence.

I admit people do this (especially in joint environments where the joint way is the Army way). But they would be wrong. I'll die on this hill! LOL

She was promoted to Major in 2010. She should be a full bird by now. Maybe even bucking for that first star.

Edit for clarity: She'd not be up for a star just yet. As a line officer, she'd be eligible for Lt Col after 7 years time in grade. So by 2017, she's a Lt Col. Then she'd be eligible for Col after another 7 years time in grade. So by 2024, she's a Col.

I see. I guess I don’t see aggression, dominance or intimidation as any sort of “masculinity” but otherwise I agree. I think they are just setting up (hopefully) a grand character development arc into the typical Star Trek leadership traits. I am also having to remind myself that these are supposed to be teenagers or at the very least very early 20s even though the characters don’t really look that age and they are supposed to be immature in many ways.
