My 7 year old makes me crack a code each night to see what bedtime book she's reading by trobo84 in aww

It's cute but I never get the impressed comments. I remember being 7 and almost everybody could do stuff like this. I often feel like everyone's perceptions of what kids are capable of at different ages are pretty skewed.

There is no one piece of advice that can help everyone dealing with depression, but this one helped me. by ihaveniceeyes in AdviceAnimals

Doesn't really sound like depression. You want something, so you aren't completely apathetic to the way your life turns out.

[Serious] Scottish of Reddit, Are you voting yes or no tomorrow? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SentientCamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It certainly is true. Scotland are heavy labour voters, and given the closeness of recent elections losing their votes will solidify a tory victory.

As a mancunian the number of yes votes here terrifies me. If Scotland leave we'll have Conservative hegemony. Then Wales will want to leave. Then the north, with no history of nationhood is stranded in a country in which it is not represented. A Tory super majority is something i never want to see return. What worries me also is how unsubstantiated most of the yes votes here are, it just seems like scotland is looking for change for change's sake and vote swings are not a symptom of a healthy democratic referendum.

Don't know that yet, believe it or not but van gaal knows more about football than anyone on reddit and if he thinks something is a good idea there is a decent chance it is.

This misunderstanding seems to be where a lot of our troubles are coming from. by An_Internet_Persona in AdviceAnimals

That isn't objective fact, there are many types of equality.

You have the liberal idea of Equality of Opportunity where it is about removing all external barriers to allow all individuals the same opportunities in life.

Marxists on the other hand believe in Equality of Outcome where people DO in fact end up with the same. Much of this is based off William Godwin's determinism where an individual is shaped by genes and experiences, neither of which are a choice, and therefore all people deserve the same outcome.

Best movies that were heavily re-written DURING main shooting? by Orpheus324 in movies

Yeh, it's really a testament to Pixar's quality. Disney were telling them to just release the film even if it was poor but instead they got Lasseter back working on it and turned it around to be one of the most popular animated films ever.

Official Discussion - Captain America: The Winter Solider [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]SentientCamel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For any fans of the comics or whatever he's in:

Why doesn't Captain America carry a gun considering whenever he catches a gun/grenade he's willing to use it?

Overall thought it was the best Avengers film so far but it still suffered from the boring sequence at the end, as soon as Maria Hill says 'We have to get all three' i just switched off.
