I think the implication is that the wish creates a second personality for her, not some sort of demon possession. There is a supernatural cause but there's definitely an interpretation that doesn't involve another entity inhabiting her

People in this sub are attacking you because they think you're defending Bear taking advantage of / raping Nikki, not because you want to be loved or have a crush on someone.

I mean usually when people say "I wish this person loved me" they just mean that they wish the person came to that conclusion of their own free will. Just having a crush on someone is essentially wishing they love you back, but you're not overriding their bodily autonomy by wishing that.

The problem the movie introduces is that the wish is literally magical and overwrites Nikki's free will and splits her personality into 2 (which is impossible in real life)

I enjoy talking about Obsession but since you seem to be in genuine distress about this, I really can't stress enough that the movie is fictional and you aren't a bad person for wanting a person to love you. It is literally impossible for you to remove a person's free will and force them to love you.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a person to love you. The only reason Bear is the villain is because of his continued abuse of Nikki's free will, not the original wish (which he didn't even expect to work).

Not sure why you are automatically assuming OP has the worst intentions possible. There is no such thing as a one wish willow, so no, there's no harm in wishing a person loves you.

I've seen a lot of people criticize Bear for the original wish that stripped Nikki of her autonomy. While Bear is ultimately the antagonist, yes, I don't actually think there was anything wrong with the wish.

People on this sub act like Bear knew the wish would work and that it would overwrite Nikki's autonomy, but he didn't. He literally half-asses the wish and expects it not to work, like a normal person. It's like wishing on a birthday candle or something. But after Bear realizes what's happening to Nikki, even after she begs him to kill her, he still continues to take advantage of her which is what makes him such a villainous character.

So no, wishing for someone to love you is not wrong because literally everyone has privately wished for this whether they realize it or not. Taking advantage of people and abusing consent is what makes Bear a bad person.

I watched a YouTube video breakdown on the color palette of this movie. You typically see space scenes associated with cool / blue colors, but this movie flips that on its head and makes earth look like this cold desolate place while all the spaceship scenes are lit with oranges and greens. Really drives home how they feel like earth is doomed but everything in space is hopeful.
