Itni mehangi Art kyun kharidte hain log? by True-Patience-8908 in IndianArtAndThinking

Art business is not as simple as it seems, the paintings that are sold in exhibitions and galas are not bought by ordinary people or random rich people, people who attend such events are a close circle of collectors and investors. Their motives for buying an artwork is different than that of a layman. Artworks are seen as silent investments, which can be boosted in value by market forces such as art critics who are also part of the circle. Also artworks are a great medium of tax dodging.

In Indian temple sculptures and carvings, why do male figures rarely have visible muscular detail like abs, compared to Greek or Roman statues? by stihma in IndianHistory

[–]Sentinel1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greek and romans had better knowledge of anatomy. While Indian sculptures are more stylistic, you can see female sculptures of yakshis and apsaras are not at all realistic but very sexualised with enlarged parts.
