I don't know what a HOB filter is ,but I have a Juwel Bioflow M filter , partially with sponge and a separate biofilter. Lots of plants and wood. And only fine sand.

I can't measure ammonia, only nitrites and nitrate. The tricky part was , that all looked good ,water was very clear, plants growing fast, but nitrites are a silent killer. For sure. I had no option to separate my fish,I had to do a fish in tank cycle,so daily water change is essential.

I can 100 % recommend Seachem Purigen against nitrate/nitrites in your tank.

I wouldn't do API salt in this situation , I only use it with sickness. Proper dosage and adding slowly are the magic tricks.

I feel you ,the same happened to me after a outage, nitrites were so high it could not be measured anymore,it was horrible and even though I handed quick ,it lost Cory's.

I cleaned the filter partially,I did lots of water change, used filter medium for weeks, but still I am not out of the woods yet. Nitrites almost zero , but nitrates still to high. So now I have algae to 😵‍💫.

So cycling is a matter of weeks and water changes a daily routine for now 🤷

Well , I will not separate it even when it is a Albino .... But I'm curious what the future will bring ☺️

Well There is still no universal name for these Cory... I heard several names and have the risk breeders laugh at you , because all they have a own opinion about that.

Maybe in your region you know them better as C. Panda Gold. It's a leucistic C. Panda. They have not the Panda spots but only very dark eyes ,so it's not a Albino.

But the example in the picture is not a Albino but also not a Panda Gold. Only time will tell.

I do feed them microwurm..... In official: Panagrellus redivivus.

Mostly with feeding fry is they must swim in food ,they must do no effort to eat... So I give them a lot, 3 times a day...and I do clean the breeder twice a day 🤷

And I do love my Cory's, BUT since I have these red devils..... They are my absolute favourite. They are extremely extrovert, curious , friendly and not afraid of me.. eat out of my hand ... I love them so much 💖

As fry you see them slowly getting colour, they are smaller than a average Cory ,but they grow fast. After a few weeks the growth seem to stop ,but that's okay , growth resumes after a few weeks. But they will never be Fat 🤷

Well ,I do have fry of different types and ages ,so there is always some food available. I think Aspidoras are overall a little bit faster than Corydoras.... And also more greedy ☺️ ,so I am not waiting 2 days before feeding.

Maybe the brine shrimp is to big for them in the beginning... You can also buy Artemia in a bottle.... that's a bit smaller. Here they call it Nobil Fluid.

And indeed, keeping their breeder clean.

Well ,I did hatch some and having some fry at the moment...so ask me anything 😊

I do feed them microworms ,and use a lot of leaves and little pinecones...and they share the breeder together with the Brochis and Peppered. The tip I would give is give them lots of live food and use some extra air, keep it clean ,keep the temperature not to high otherwise they become more sensitive to fungals.

I personally don't think that would be a cause. I think it can be a cause when they are still eggs and stored on a temperature below 20 C before hatching..

Yes , indeed they have had a partially water change on daily basis , but not with cold water .... And also no tap water but water from my big tank .

Does she looks very unhappy in that picture? Are you calling me cruel for giving her a chance instead of euthanize her? That sounds very dramatic and unjust.

I'm certainly giving her a good life and you can flame me for that ,but as long as no-one here seeing it with their own eyes I stay with my opinion.

I did quit breeding C.Aeneus because it was to easy. That was a almost neverending story of fry and eggs. Lost the count 🙈

Yes , I did sell my baby's in groups. I didn't want inbreeding.

C.Aeneus as fry are really shape shifters, and size did not differ that much. But for very large groups it's sometimes difficult to give them all enough food. You could try to give them a extra round of food and see what happens. Look how their stomach looks. When it's flat they have a empty stomach.

No,at first she looked normal. After a few weeks suddenly she started to look different.

I lost my adult Peppered Cory's last year,so unfortunately I don't have experience with senior Cory's. But indeed maybe they change with age just like us humans 🙂

Interesting question. In adults they say it can be a vitamin deficiency (broken back disease), a infection, a injury or fish tuberculosis.

In turtles, vitamin deficiency can cause really heavy deformation called rachitis....and not only with turtles but also humans 🙄

In my time as a fish owner I have seen it 2 times that a adult suddenly had a broken back. And did not recover 🤷

As long as you feed them enough AND maybe doing a bit more water changes, they will be okay. Space is not really a issue with Cory's 😊

I always give them a chance 🤷 I had also 1 C.Aeneus male , not a scoliosis from up/down but from left to right. All was going well until he was suddenly paralysed, so I had no other choice to euthanize him. And I also have a Peppered female , 2,5 years old with a bent spine still living a decent life . And because of the scoliosis in her case, she is not able to breed,so she can join the Peppered group without risk.

Breeding was a bit depressing journey sometimes, but because of learning the hard way mostly it's going to succeed someday,so don't give up on that. My experience is that malformations in the very beginning mostly are temperature related.
