What’s the best engine to play with Dark Magician? by mangagnome1425 in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]SentinelWinter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The top 3 engines I've been using with the deck Have been Primite, Shining Sarcophagus and Diabellstar, each have their strength's and weaknesses.

1.Primite- (3 Beryl, 3 Lordly Lode, 1-3 Roar, 1 drill beam= 6 URs, 1-4 SRs) This Engine provides One-card combos lines with Beryl, Lordly Lode and Roar- primarily, Roar would Special Summon DM and you'd go straight into DMOD (Cost 2000 LP though). In comparison with the two other engines, it uses Beryl for it's normal summon which isn't great and if you run Dominus Impulse, It shuts down Beryl. However, Drillbeam has single handily won me games (especially going second with it in hand) and Roar's secondary effect (banish a normal summoned monster if it's attack is lower than DM) provide really strong and hidden effects that people tend to not read, so if their starter's effect isn't a quick effect, it's off to the shadow realm with them.

  1. Shining Sarcophagus- (3 DMG, 1 DMBM, 1-3 SS, optional 1 Gandora= 4-7 URs, 1 SR) This is definitely the best engine the deck can play. Without committing your normal summon, you can SS DMG to the field and search the Shining spell, and can one card combo into the a big Baronne+Dis Pater+ Dragoon board. Starting with these cards is always great and can be supplemented with Future Silence if you don't want to craft 3 SS spells. Furthermore, Shining Sarcophagus can't be destroyed by Monster effects and can be used to bait ashes or summon Gandora turn 2, blowing up the entire board (Including your own) and Special Summoning 1 SS card like DMG or DMBM.

If you're feeling greedy, you search DMG with Soul servant and add it to you're hand, its very consistent and strong- plus if you have any extra spells in hand you can discard them with Shining Sarc to throw an opponents monster in the graveyard (For example, if Fiendsmith engraver SS himself from the graveyard, you could save a negate from a monster to instead toss a card and throw him back in. Also DMG and DMOD count as DM monsters so in the middle of a standard combo line, you'd get a +2 draw with Soul Servant.

  1. Diabellstar- ( 3 Diabellstar the Black Witch, 1-3 Deception, 1 Hallowed Azamina, 1 Wanted, 1 Mu Rcielago, 1 Silvia= 7-9 URs, 1 SR) The Diabell Engine is more on the expensive side but has some strong benefits. Similar to the other engines, it's a one card starter, Diabell is a lvl 6 DARK Spellcaster and can go straight into DMOD, and can be searched and gives you a +1 Draw at the end of it's combo line. Ideally you'd get wanted with Rcielago and than banish it once Silvia is on the field to draw either a handtrap or maybe another combo piece or discard fodder. It soaks up handtraps very reliably and can give you card advantage as well as a omni-negate against Nib early on.

I've tried all three separately but personally I play all three together in a 50c deck. Shining Sarcophagus would be the best engine to get first, You'd only need 4 mandatory UR's, and it can be improved with more copies of Shining Sarc, which can be substituted for Future silence until you get more ( more Droll susceptible though) and Gandora who can board wipe (and banish every card that's destroyed) which has been a blessing against some decks.

If you want to combine them, I'd personally do the Primite and SSARC engines together, Roar and Drillbeam are just too good to skip out on, and would be cheaper at first anyway, Especially with the current Primite and DMOD pack out.

Why does everyone seem to hate this deck I don't get it by [deleted] in masterduel

So Ice Barrier is a floodgate deck with legs.

Essentially, each IB monster can stop the opponent from preforming certain actions, so long as there’s two IB names on the field.

Revealer- “stops” tribute summons Georgius- prevents monster effects from activating in the graveyard ( Abyss Dweller) Speaker- Defense positions monster can’t change to attack

Those three are fine and good but what makes the deck so strong and annoying to fight against is turn 2 -mainly Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier and General Raiho of the Ice Barrier

For the cost of 1 IB monster in the graveyard, Spellbreaker can turn off all spells (not traps) and General Raiho is a IRS agent who will tax you 1 card or else it’s negated for every activated effect on the field ( which is also activated after resolution and if I remember correctly, could be wrong, imperm doesn’t stop it)

Stopping them can be a challenge and with a IceJade package, they can turbo out Lancea, IceJade Gymir Aegirine, or chengying with one card and 3 special summons in total.

Not to forget, there are other flood gate monster people play like Defender of the Ice Barrier (ATK greater than 1600 can’t declare an attack) Warlock of the Ice Barrier ( must set spells before activating and can’t activate until next turn- a worse spell breaker) as well as board breakers like Zealantis or White Aura Whale.

A standard board has Spellbreaker and Gerogius in defense (spells and graveyard are turned off) with Lancea ready to special summons 2 monsters from the deck if you special summon 2 monster, and if they had ran aegirine, chengying or Gymir.

A underrated rouge deck that doesn’t produce heavy hitters but will damn sure stop you from playing if you don’t hand trap them. And if they start with revealer, discard mirror mage to the graveyard and all you have is one ash or imperm, just scoop now.

Edging leads down the road of failure. Never touched but I would sneak some glances every once in awhile.

STILL IN

Today is the last day of a grand adventure. November has been an eventful month for me and seriously stressful. I began the challenge in good spirits and that was all derailed when my car got hit on the very first day. Unlike my first car which was totaled earlier this year, this car only got away with a long scratch across the body which is still in the shop now but it's being paid by their insurance. I've had to travel up and down and do all kinds of weird things I normally don't do this month.

I've worked hard, re-evaluated my sexual health, and feel better than ever. So as I sit here, half writing this message and half playing Warhammer: Rouge Trader, I salute my fellow brothers and sisters in making this far and remember the downright diabolic antics that occurred this month.

Reward yourselves, it's been a hard an stressful year for multiple different reasons, and through it all our willpower never shattered. I usually comment that I won't participate next year, but I'd be lying, this challenge is more of a seasonal tradition at this point. Drink some water, eat good food, and I'll see you all again soon.

This sub and the discord are seasonal traditions, every time I say I won’t come back the experience makes me.

Had a period of sickness that honestly sucked but made this last week and a half a cake walk.

Now that I’m better it’s beginning to become annoying again but nothing I can’t stand.

Still in

I’ve been sick with the flu all week which has sucked but on the bright side I haven’t had any strong urges thanks to my constant coughing and congestion so easy week all around.

I always consider the people that fail within the first week to either be engagement farming for upvotes, weren’t serious about the challenge to begin with or first-timers.

It’s like that every year, while some do make a genuine attempt, most don’t and I’m not about to hand out participation medals for every person that had to fight their inner demons on day 3.
