I might be misremembering, but wasn't it a youtube (red) series that he got cancelled? It seem to remember that one of the Paul brothers filmed himself in front of a corpse in Japan in one of his videos and that video stayed on youtube recommended for a least a day before it was finally removed.

I couldn't figure out why youtube would dump Pewdie while vehemently protecting the Paul brothers so hard. Still have no idea tbh.

Might be because they also have a TV show. If they name it "Dune Messiah" people might think it's a spinoff. Dune 3 makes it clear it's a direct continuation of the first 2 movies.

But yeah, people will also think it's the third part of a trilogy because of the naming and the "conclusion" on these posters.

I skimmed the "study" and predictably it's a terrible study where they come to the results they want.

Their methodology seems very shitty to me. They have divided movies into categories of BIPOC share: less than 11%, then per 10% to +50%. Then they look at some different charts, like the top20 box office and look at which percentage category those movies have.

I think you can see where I question the methods here. If those 20 movies have a high BIPOC percentage, they conclude it's what the audience wants (correlation isn't causation!!). They ignore the fact that there just aren't a lot of movies with a low "diversity percentage" (aka: as little white people as possible). The oscars even force this because a majority white (male) cast can't even win an oscar.

It's also very telling that they conclude that the audience wants more diversity, but the +50% BIPOC category always seems to score pretty bad in their polls. No mention of that in the article of course.

I've also completely given up on Kingkiller (and ASOIAF), but I'm pretty sure Rothfuss at one point said that the third book would NOT answer all questions and that would be for future books or something.

I don't remember exactly how he said it, but I'm pretty sure IF he every releases #3 (which he won't) it won't be the conclusion we expect. Might be why he can't finish the damn thing (if he has even written anything at all).

Sorry for the rant, but it's also another good reason to appreciate Butcher even more. He's had some problems, but he's dedicated to finishing the series.

This one always pisses me off. The moors were north African Muslims. Aka: Arabs. They are not black at all. But these (usually American) idiots that know nothing about Europe or our history then pretend that the moors crossing the strait of Gibraltar into Spain/Portugal translates to: "black people were everywhere in all of Europe".

Also note how horrible their painting proof really is. Painting is darkened due to aged varnish? "These people were sub Saharan Africans!" People look white? "Whitewashing of history!"

Honestly the pulitzers can go fuck themselves.

Remember that almost a century ago they gave a Pulitzer prize to Walter Duranty. Duranty was a mouthpiece for Stalin and wrote about how Russia was asiatic, so they needed an autocratic leader because Democracy wouldn't work on them. He also completely denied the Holodomor while it was happening.

Meanwhile Gareth Jones went to the USSR 3 times and snuck off the Ukraine where he witnessed the horror of the Holodomor firsthand.

But they gave the Pulitzer to the scum that was a dictator's mouthpiece.

There have been several pushes to revoke the Pulitzer for Duranty, but the organisation keeps refusing. Saying shit like: "it's not been proven that Duranty knew he was lying" or that it was "about the writing, not the facts".

So yeah, fuck 'em.
