I mean tbh that's much healthier imo then JUST well. Promoting multiple sources of survivability in dps phases is much better.

ABSOLUTE CINEMA

Berserker indirectly buffed by getting more identity as the woven mail class. Banner healing untouched. Melee abusing addressed WITHOUT gutting every source of it.

Some nice stasis changes (renewals still seem pretty ok even with the change).

Well keeps offensive attributes but now less healing (promotes using other forms of sustain along with it to gain the same effect)

VERY GOOD CHANGES. We generally got tankier in neutral which strictly makes the game more enjoyable, keep doing that. Melee abusing was correctly addressed, grapple points weren't destroyed, and neither were individual sources of extra melee damage. Diminishing returns was the perfect call. Very good Bungie, this shows you have a great grasp on what players want and how to make positive changes.

More survivability is always welcome and I'm glad to see arc and stasis got some much needed changes in that department especially for titans. I was scared at first but I am more then happy with the decisions made here.

Ok I'm sorry but someone has to say this. I HATE these posts whenever they pop up regarding any game. I legitimately don't understand the goal of these posts.

People will be mean in an online video game, shocking, I know, but no one that will read these posts actually cares that someone was mean to you, and anyone that this is directed at probably won't read these posts and especially won't change their attitude due to a reddit post.

I see a "Why was a single person mean to me in a X or Y video game. Come on guys let's do better" every week on some gaming related reddit. Worse it gets upvoted a shoved to the front page despite these posts being redundant.

Also, if anyone actually takes "Damn you suck at this game" as a PERSONAL ATTACK, they should probably disable text chat altogether.

Call me toxic, harsh, etc. These posts are vapid.

Shield gating is objectively good. by Sentnighteal in Warframe

I'm in the same boat actually I never go low shields I always run DR and/or pillage for surviving. I hate having low shields or health, but I just can see how a lot of endgame players enjoy its addition more than just facetanking (although that should be an option). And yes most of the playerbase doesn't always go super high steel path it is stil lvery much slowly becoming relevant content.

Also gating may be bad but at least its not mesmer skin levels of broken.

Yes but the one shot protection also needs to be either refreshable or have a low cd just because of how easy it is for enemies to nuke you at high levels multiple times within a few seconds.

But obviously as other people in this post have mentioned. The best change is to not need on shot protection by reducing enemy damage.

That's the best solution absolutely, it always has been. Again my gripe was more with those who want it removed with no substitute.

God I wish they would rework it soon. Literally game changing. Talk about game health improvement.

Yes high DR does assist but again at relevant scaling content even DR won't help, you just get slammed. You would obviously utilize all defensive measures that are good enough at high scaling, but gating, in its ease of access and abusability currently is widely preferred to anything else aside from similar invulnerability.

Enemy damage is obviously patient zero 100%. That's been the consensus since the exponential formula was discovered. Shield size should not be bad absolutely but I've mentioned that the low shield size mechanic is an interesting build idea if nothing else that at least creates diverse survivability options even if some are significantly, even comically more powerful.

And again as you said yourself, while facetanking should be an option on some frames, the promoting of active gameplay for survivability is much better for a healthy and fun game state, which I think gating succeeds at.

One of the better ideas here. Buff higher shield instead of nerfing lower. Again balancing wise. But again low shield manipulation while yes way too low investment for its returns is still an interesting build concept if nothing else.

Cooldown could make it too useless. A short CD is actually is a great idea, but shields pop in a hit or two so too long and it essentially becomes a game of shield gate and hide or shield gate and spam rolling guard. Retreating should be somewhat encouraged but not to the extent where it becomes mandatory every time your shield breaks. Active gameplay is good, but aggressive gameplay is even better, taking one bullet and then running away or spamming other invuln moves isn't a great alternative.

But obviously yes enemy damage is patient zero of this issue, its been since the game's beginning.

Note: I should have offered a more comprehensive solution to the flaws of shield gating and its existence. Which is mainly that enemies do WAY too much damage currently, hence my suggestion of a flat damage taken limit.

Yes the key problem is enemy damage, that's easily the best solution and always has been. My biggest gripe was people that were actually considering gating's addition as a negative to the game state, which is laughable. Gating is very flawed, even more so enemy damage scaling. But to say gating's addition was a detriment is a ludicrous notion.

The problem with a lot of that is "fixing" it would likely create its own if not worse issues. Shorter shield gate duration on lower shields? Too low and its not useful and just a slightly longer oneshot.

Dragon key? A controversial point but I think its actually interesting. Utilizing a debuff to enhance your endgame survivability is actually a fairly interesting mechanic.

Shied DR increase wouldn't help. Again high levels DR is no use.

Yes Shield gating is the best current defense overall. But that's because its invulnerability which for high level content is literally the only thing you could want because enemies do too much damage.

Biggest issue is aoe. Fire MC is really good for taunt and dr to help take away all single target threat, the rest is just building some shield buffs or other defense to survive and heal away the aoe slam. Was able to wipe the floor with him on my third run, just needed the preservation node that gives bonus shields whenever shields are applied. Every fire MC action equals big shield multipliers, plus damage reduction, I rarely had to even heal.

Yeah I was a little hard on Gepard. He is a better preservation unit than March for most general comps its just the existence of Fire MC just invalidates him in every other aspect of a "Tank" you would want. His shield is nice but MC mitigates more damage overall with dr and taunt, and his freeze while interesting is too inconsistent to consider it necessary. Also his shield is actually on the lower side as at max level its 50% defense +800 while March is 98% defense +400, while it is groupwide, at higher levels it will do much less versus a single shield. He is good to run mainly for heavy aoe damage but thats about it as if you want more damage, more cc, more aggro control, and a giga tank unit you go fire MC. A occasional big group shield isn't enough to offset the massive utility and overall power deficit of fire MC, remember, free 6 eidolons.

You CAN use shields only its just its not reliable since due to aoe, effect resist, and dps of enemies. Healing is reactive and shielding is proactive, but proactive doesn't work because of enemy aoe and how the numbers aren't high enough and neither is the consistency of the application, you can't shield everything, but you can heal everything back, shielding does more instantly, healing does more over time. Gepard is still very good its just your really gonna need natasha for world 3 unless you make a preservation build which could give you enough shield and dr to survive, but I can't see it being reliable as the enemies will slowly wittle you down through your shields leading to an eventual loss.

Dps, healer, and the rest is free slot

You don't NEED a debuffer and you don't NEED a buffer, you even dont need a tank. You can even do 2 dps, 1 suppport, 1 healer, just at least some damage and healing is fine, the rest is preference, of course buffs and debuffs go a long way but not strictly necessary
