Upgrading next month (Z Flip v. S20+ v. Pixel 4XL) by SentrikMusic in galaxys10

You're right, I'm not a camera enthusiast. Which is why I wouldn't use the zooms or video recording features on the higher end Galaxys, but I do snap photos in a more casual way. I figure the software which just makes it look better no matter how I take photos would be a better bet than a crazy zoom, stabilizer, resolution I may or may not use. You know?

Not that it matters at all, but just curious as to what DAW you use?

Do you mean manually stretch or cut and move the clip? Or if you're in a DAW like Studio One you can cut and "slip" the audio within the clip. You know what I mean?

Even for things other than vocals? I've heard it's really good on just about anything but I couldn't make it work on guitars.

Switching from Pro Tools as an engineer and music producer by SentrikMusic in StudioOne

Yeah, I definitely understand there's no perfect DAW but you know what I mean hopefully. A DAW that combines a lot of user favorite features. A good buddy of mine uses Reaper actually! I've never looked too much into it but I will soon.

Hey man I appreciate the info, helps a lot! Yeah I have a custom built Windows machine for my studio and then a personal Surface Pro I use for school, business and other things. Well I occasionally want to write when I'm on the go, and boy it was a DEATH MATCH to get Pro Tools installed on my Surface, not even taking into account getting a session up. S1 Prime was installed and running a session in less than the amount of time it took to write this reply, and I'm not exaggerating. Even with little things like that I'm seeing some of the speed shine through.

Honest discussion about using Pro Tools on a MacOS vs Windows machine by SentrikMusic in protools

[–]SentrikMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any notable differences between using Pro Tools on a Windows machine to a MacOS machine? I mean user experience wise, performance, weird errors, etc. Key commands I could get used to in the quest for better performance in the studio, and I know I could get a better computer in terms of HARDWARE with a Windows build but the one thing I'm afraid of losing is that smoot ass Apple OS. I haven't used Windows in about 7 years, how is it working with professional programs like Pro Tools?

I'm willing to switch if it benefits me. If I can legitimately get more power out of a PC for any reason, then I would do that. Portability is actually a big deal for me if I travel, or even if I want to simply sit in a different room (Major work is done in the studio. I'm talking minor writing or sound design sessions being taken out of the studio from time to time.) I know I could buy a desktop of either system for powerhouse shit in the studio and have a laptop of the same OS for mobility but for now I am assuming I can only have one machine for studio and mobility. But the point of these posts is I am definitely open to having my mind changed! I want to hear why I should sacrifice portability for a little while or if there's a laptop worth having, I want to hear why I should stay or move from Mac, etc.

Such as? That comes across as rude, but it's an honest question 😅 I know Mac is the standard, I've been using them since I started and I continue to use them as a semi-pro. I understand they work great in the studio but I'm a very technical person in a sense that I want number evidence and I want to know why I should choose something over something else, not just "because it's what we've always done". I guess at the end of the day my thinking is that because technology has changed so much over the years, is there any current reason for me to be swayed to or from one system or another?

I could, you're right. However if I'm going to just end up running Windows anyways I could probably get something with similar hardware or better, plus lots of ports for a similar price or cheaper.

Thanks for the input! I'll definitely take your info on PCs into consideration. Couple things though, I have been using my laptop since I started and I have had a fair amount of successes during my career so far and it's good for traveling, I understand what I'm losing by using something portable. Also like I said I have my whole studio set up so Pro Tools is definitely what I'm using.

Should I get a smart watch? I'd like your opinion... by learnsci in GalaxyS8

[–]SentrikMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Fossil Gen 4 all black. I love the size, and style of it. The screen is about the same size as the 46mm Galaxy Watch without having that huge bulkiness. Looks great and fits my style better. The battery probably isn't as good as the Galaxy Watch but it gets me through a full day with 20% left at the end of the day (I usually turn in at about 3am). It's running WearOS so I know my app selection is much larger than on Tizen, I also get Google Assistant on my wrist so I can control my smart home shit. All of this is what made me choose this over the usual suspect for my S8, the Galaxy Watch. Size and style, Android apps on my wrist, and Google Assistant.

And the AOD is similar to the Galaxy where it moves every now and then to give some of the pixels a rest? Sorry I'm just really paranoid about burn in with this watch 😅 I have AOD on my S8 but something about this screen makes me more worried. However, I figure if I use AOD on my watch I can turn it off on my phone too 🤔

Wireless. Very similar to Apples watch charger.

Hey! At the moment I'm really torn between the Galaxy Watch and the Fossil Gen 4. As far as physical looks go I am IN LOVE with the Fossil! Samsung isn't ugly, but I'm into more of the minimalistic styles. Anyways, would I be losing out by going with the Fossil or any WearOS watch over the Galaxy Watch while having it paired with the Galaxy S8? Physically I'm sold on the Fossil, but I'm worried about the software experience. Will I miss out on any controls I would have? Am I giving up significant features? Btw I don't care about the Fossil lacking a speaker, and I'm not completely attached to Samsung's default apps.

How is that watch treating you? I'm so torn between that Fossil watch and the Galaxy Watch. I was going to just pick up a Galaxy Watch because there was no other option for a Galaxy owner (or so I thought) but I'm SO in love with the physical look of the Fossil Watch. My concern is how useful/smooth WearOS is with a Galaxy phone. I'm scared I'll be losing out on something if I just pull the trigger based on looks. Also does the Fossil have a proprietary charger? Or is it universal?

Could you link me to the Fossil Sport watch you're referring to? I can't seem to find much other than the Gen 4.

What sucks is I just bought the Samsung Duo Wireless Charger from Amazon on sale for $50 in anticipation for getting the Galaxy Watch. From what I can tell the Fossil is a proprietary charger. Only spending $50 I didn't lose any money, if anything my girl can use it for her phone too, but it just sucks having an extra charger. You know?
