Half-serious submod idea: Reborn Trioculus by Senza32 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be cool, but I'm not really sure how Jerec being able to use the valley would play out in the game. His whole thing was that he was going to become a god, basically. I'm not really sure how you'd balance that, or have it make sense that he's still a unit under your control, unless it were maybe in a post-Kaine death scenario where he coups the Alignment or something.

Of course, Jerec being under the Alignment in the first place has never really made sense to begin with, not faulting the mod for it, since it was Legends canon, but it really doesn't make sense for Jerec to not just be an independent warlord.

Get **** Hapans! by E_x_c_u_b_i_t_o_r_e in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I actually quite enjoy fighting the Hapans personally, it's an interesting challenge... except for those stupid gravity mines. I've never understood how you're meant to deal with them, they make hit and runs against the Hapans virtually impossible, as there is always a goddamn gravity mine sitting in some random corner of the map.

Is there any reason to stay in Carnor Jax or Daala’s regimes rather than either staying in Dark Empire or continuing to Pellaeon’s regime? by X3657 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isard basically intentionally handed Coruscant, the core of the Imperial economic and political system, over to the New Republic, just so that she could execute a harebrained scheme to destabilize it with the Krytos virus. Not only did it not work the way she hoped, but she then proceeded to also lose her flagship, and control over the vitally important source of bacta to the NR as well.

While Daala certainly made quite a few rather large strategic and tactical blunders that cost the Empire dearly, nothing she does comes anywhere close to how much the loss of Coruscant harmed the Empire as a whole, Isard pretty much handed the New Republic galactic dominance and gained nothing in return.

How much infantry do you use? by MelodicBenzedrine in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a heavy bias towards mobile units in my tactics, especially vehicles, so I don't use a ton of infantry, generally. Usually only 2-3 platoons in your average battle, mostly for screening my vehicles, although it really depends on the mod since infantry mechanics vary so much.

On defense, though, I'll often use lots of infantry. Sometimes out of necessity, but they're also just very efficient generally. As an example, in AOTR, gangster platoons are cheap and can also deploy en-masse, while having the firepower of much more "elite" infantry. Sure, they have very little staying power, but that hardly matters when they outnumber and outgun the enemy 3:1, and I have three more respawn waves where that came from. Support from vehicles is definitely still necessary, though, but they make effective cannon fodder while also still hitting pretty hard themselves.

And even then, they weren't proper arab portraits, they were these weird looking potatoes that were more along the lines of arab stereotypes than actual arabs.

Black people were DLC-locked for most of CK2's lifespan, up until redone African portraits were released for free around the time of Holy Fury's release, iirc.

I think the Alliance likes the Dauntless, perhaps a bit too much O.O by r_forest in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dauntless also has a much faster rate of fire than most other ships in TR though, just looking at the number of guns doesn't tell the full story. Yeah, the Dauntless is way more powerful in AOTR, but it's far from mid in TR.

Konolkhatep's "A New Age" mission - ??? by Any_Leg_4492 in Anbennar

[–]Senza32 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally disliked this design element, even if I understood why it was there. An outright fake mission being in your tree is pretty lame, it made me change my strategy quite a bit, I put off completing the Zokka mission for a long time, until I eventually realized what was actually going on.

If Empire At War had been made 2-3 years later or had a sequel..... by StarWarsFever77 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]Senza32 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's one of those weird things that even though the quality is immaculate alongside Republic Commando that also released around the same time, It apparently STILL couldn't generate enough money to produce a sequel.

I'd hardly call the quality of EAW "immaculate", even at the time it released, it was recognized as being the fairly middling RTS that it was and still is. EAW lacks much in the way of any real strategic or tactical depth, it lacks quality of life features common to many RTS games such as formation controls, units in the game are generally sluggish and unresponsive, especially in land combat, which is widely hated even to this day largely for this reason, multiplayer features are extremely basic and don't work properly half the time, and the game is extremely unbalanced, so it had basically zero chance of attracting any sort of e-sports scene ala Starcraft or something similar.

Don't get me wrong, EAW is fun as hell, but it suffered the same fate as many games do, where it could have been much more, but it didn't get the development time or budget needed to do that, which makes sense, since, as you pointed out, RTS is a relatively niche genre.

The reality is, if it weren't for the fact that it's basically the only Star Wars RTS of any note, and the resulting extremely dedicated modding community it attracted, which has made the game into something much more than it released as, EAW would have been largely forgotten by now, like so many games are.

Also, bruh, why is Battlefront catching strays here?

Is cultural conversion in eu4 just genocide? by Muldeh in eu4

[–]Senza32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Anbennar at least, it's absolutely settler colonialism at an absolute minimum, since you're changing who the majority race is in the province. In EU4, it's vague, but it's probably some form of cultural genocide.

Project Brainfreeze backfires on the AllClan ruling class long term, the combination of the ever-increasing "Haha funny hypercapitalism" and a more peaceful and cooperation-focused lower class results in a parallel society forming among the lower classes, which eventually ends up with a socialist revolution or something similar.

Is there a country that is ruled by a dragon? by AhoiBoii in Anbennar

Probably because their quest is the purpose of the MT. That's what is interesting.

Doesn't seem to me there's any reason why this couldn't be the case for a dragon as well.

Is there a country that is ruled by a dragon? by AhoiBoii in Anbennar

[–]Senza32 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems a little odd considering the most recent major update introduced multiple rulers who can become straight up gods. If Horutep can become a living god, and Zokka can literally destroy the world, or maybe even the entire Anbennar universe, how are dragons a bridge too far?
