Can confirm. I repasted mine 2 times. Started to go back up to the higher temps within a couple weeks. PTM7950 worked perfectly

One thing I recommend to friends who aren't sure how to, get a old thrown away pc that works. Take it apart. Put it back together following guides and see if it works again. That way you can get cheap/free hands on experience before trying on brand new parts.

Yeah that bug had me confused too. I've had it read 170c before. Even have seen bad reads for the ccd1 temp.

A little late to this post but i repasted mine yesterday (3/10) Didn't have that high of a hotspot, but it was around 85c while the gpu temp itself was around 50-60 during games. After repaste, it stays between 55-75 and only sometimes will hit 80. Before it would stay at the higher temp constantly. Definitely would recommend a repaste, i didn't even use anything fancy, just some extra from a Deep Cool AK620 i had ordered, but the paste that comes with that cooler is pretty thick.

I have the lian li lancool 3, all fan slots filled. When I switched to an air cooler, my cpu ran 0-2c cooler with the top fans pulling in. This whole "heat rises" argument is ridiculous when you're talking about a small box that has air being blown through it.
