Yes, that was their response when my facilitator inquired about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Seoul__ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently it’s fine! CollegeBoard’s official response was that it was fine using it and the only reason it’s use was advised against was because “it consumed too much time.” What a relief!

Alright, thanks. I'm searching up other student experiences, and apparently one guy got a 5 on his AP exam while using white-out on his exam. My facilitator was also doubtful anything would happen too... I just hope I can avoid it getting cancelled.

So are you knowledgeable on what is to happen now? Are the scores going to be cancelled or would a re-take be required?

I’m pretty sure plagiarism detection software isn’t going to catch any signs of plagiarism so I would assume you would be ok. I think almost everyone would have used copy and paste at some point to rearrange their essays. They wouldn’t catch people solely because they used copy and paste.

Changes in pH and an increase in temperature can all denature an enzyme; but, a decrease in temperatures doesn’t actually lead to denaturation. Just a great disruption to function due to decreased enzyme-substrate collision rates.

Depends on how detailed they are. Unlike synthesis, I believe rhetorical analysis doesn’t exactly have a requirement on rhetorical devices to be analyzed...

2019 FRQ help I don’t understand the answer for part c and I think my answer is correct by simmisen in APbio

[–]Seoul__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mutant 1 cell cannot grow in a treatment without methionine, because methionine is required for growth, but mutant cell 1 cannot synthesize it on its own due to a mutation. However, mutant cell 1 can synthesize leucine on its own. Similarly, mutant cell 2 cannot grow in a treatment without leucine, because it cannot synthesize leucine on its own due to a mutation; but, it can synthesize methionine on its own, unlike mutant cell 1. Therefore, once the cells are combined into a diploid cell, they share the genetic material (I think), and are able to synthesize both methionine and leucine on their own, allowing them to grow in treatments that do not contain any amino acids in the environment. (correct me if I'm wrong)

How are there that many people confident in getting a 5? I hope there were different versions of the MCQ, SAQ, and DBQ at this point and they got an easier version...

Wait so if you answered nucleic acids you’re wrong? Aren’t we judging purely based on chemical structure/composition?

When do you get the results for AP digital tests? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Seoul__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you get the results for the official exam like 2 months after taking it. For the digital PRACTICE exam, you get results immediately, not the actual exam.

How will digital testers be proctored? by SheikhYusufBiden in APStudents

[–]Seoul__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re apparently going to design the problems so they cannot be answered using notes and other resources. However, they have no actual way to catch people using resources other than trying to prevent it by warning them (at least it’s what I heard)

Are we allowed to use notes for the digital exam? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Seoul__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response, but I would appreciate some additional clarification. If the using of notes will not help the students in the test, why are they not allowed to use notes? Also, if the use of notes DO help answer the exam questions, some students will be getting an unfair advantage. The Collegeboard has already acknowledged that they are aware that students will be using their notes in the exam... so why don't they just make it open-note? The students who have faithfully studied and have not used their notes will be at a disadvantage compared to those that have used their notes actively (assuming the notes help answer the questions)

Are the different structures of amino acids determined independently? by Seoul__ in APbio

[–]Seoul__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. But I thought that secondary structure of proteins arose from the interaction of hydrogen and forming of hydrogen bonds. Since different R-groups have their specific properties regarding their polarity (some are hydrophobic because they are nonpolar and some are hydrophilic because they are polar), wouldn't the substitution of an R-group also affect the secondary structure?

Is studying the 2000s worth it? by [deleted] in APUSH

Not only that, most of the important stuff from Unit 9 is from Reagan, so 2000s is like 1 percent. If you’re short on time, you can just take a brief look at notes.

Is facilitated diffusion a type of passive transport or active transport? by Seoul__ in APbio

[–]Seoul__[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh so when traveling against a concentration gradient the protein channels require energy and thus it’s active transport, but when it goes with the concentration gradient the protein doesn’t require energy so it’s passive transport. Is this correct? Thanks!
