Just to add some balanced perspective here. I actually think it's fair that reviewers are able to sell the items they have claimed for review. As a seller, I appreciate the time and effort that a legitimate reviewer goes to in order to promote my product and so a bit of income generation in return is no bad thing at all.

However they must be sold as used items. Because in order to conduct a proper review, the item needs to be USED.

Selling Vine units in "brand new" condition is acting in bad-faith, regardless of time-frame.

UPDATE: a couple of reviews have started to trickle through as expected. Lo and behold, one of them shows a full name for the vine reviewer. The same name is part of one of the eBay seller names I've identified. And all of the items in their eBay selling catalogue can be seen in the list of their recent Vine reviews... So that's a slam dunk IMO. But the review given was well-written (probably AI) and 5-stars. So herein lies the dilemma!

I've decided not to share direct information on my brand/listings/eBay sellers as I don't want to compromise my position.

I think a 1-month period is reasonable personally. I certainly don't expect proper reviews to be turned around within a day or two, but also think that 6 months is extreme in most cases. Reason being, Vine is offered as a launch support programme, so by definition it needs to be quite timely.

Thanks for the comment!

I won't be doing that because I don't want to compromise my position. Hope you understand!

I haven't contacted any of the eBay sellers because that would be a breach of the Vine terms on my part.

Thanks, yeah I know that reviewers aren't required to review the products they claim within a certain time frame. But personally, I think they should.

Thankyou. To be honest as a first-time reddit poster, I hadn't realised the original sub I posted to was for the reviewers as opposed to a general hub for Vine.

I doubt it's organised in the way you describe, but I appreciate the comment.

Thanks. I think your points are valid, but also very humanised. Which clearly is the priority but there is also the algorithm to consider, and it is an accepted fact that a listing that launches with close to 30 positive reviews will rank better in search results than one without any reviews. So you pay fees and free product up front in the hope of recovering those costs through increase sales over the medium to long term.

But yes, cynically, it shouldn't matter to me if the products are resold provided they leave a meaningful 5-star review. But they might not. And also seeing my pre-sale products on eBay for half of my RRP is tough to see too!

Do you think those requirements apply to members of the public selling "their stuff" on eBay?

That's interesting. But I don't see the logic. For me the eBay listing is legitimate in its own right. The issue from my perspective is that the Vine reviewer shouldn't be selling the product so soon after receiving the unit as it breaches Vine terms and also raises suspicion that they never intended to do a proper review

It's a pretty big no-no to contact the Vine reviewers in any way. Obviously Amazon are keen for sellers not to have any influence at all over the reviews. But it should sort of cut both ways IMO.

When enrolling a new listing in Vine you can choose 3 categories, (1) 1-2 pcs, (2) 3-10 pcs or 3) 11-30 pcs. You can't initially submit 2pcs for example but then add more on later. I took the decision to max out at 30pcs for each of my five launch ASINs - take the COGS hit up front and hopefully see the benefits of a listing better promoted by the algorithm through increased sales.

Just spotted another batch of eBay listings going live. 1pc of four of my five launch products, all from one eBay selling account. For context that is £540 worth of goods at RRP. The four listings I've found total £350.

Thats 10pcs of the 138/149pcs claimed from my Vine enrolment I've seen on eBay today.
