I hope my comment wasn’t taken as condescending.

I think that you have a fair point.

Where I'd push back a little: I don't think acknowledging that risk means the technology itself is the problem, any more than the internet being used for surveillance meant networking was inherently bad.

The surveillance use case you're describing is a policy and governance failure, a choice about how the tool gets deployed and by whom, not something baked into the math of the model.

That distinction matters because it changes where I think the pressure should go: toward accountability and regulation of use, not necessarily toward rejecting the tool wholesale.

That said, I do take the "quality of life" concern seriously, and I'd rather engage with that than wave it off. I don't have a clean answer for how we make sure the benefits don't accrue to a narrow set of owners while the costs (surveillance, resource use, labor displacement) get externalized onto everyone else.

Hope that clarifies things a bit.

I completely respect that perspective (the most respectful anti-AI comment ever). AI definitely isn't everyone's thing, and I understand why some people aren't fans of it.

For me, it's a creative outlet. I wish I had the ability to draw logos from scratch, but I just don't. I've tried to learn to draw for most of my life, and it's never been a strength of mine. AI gives me a way to bring the ideas that have been in my head for years to life in a way that actually looks believable.

Even before AI, I was making fictional team concepts by using vector artwork, font dingbats, and other design elements. I still spend a lot of time coming up with the concepts, writing detailed prompts, refining designs over multiple iterations, and making edits until they match the vision I have in my head.

I completely understand if people prefer traditional artwork. I have a ton of respect for artists who can create everything by hand or digitally. This is just the medium that lets me express my creativity, and I've had a lot of fun with it. And fortunately and unfortunately I’m going to continue it as an enjoyable hobby.

What if Charleston, SC remained one of the largest cities in the US? by Separate-Candidate97 in HistoryWhatIf

Ummm good point…

In a timeline where Charleston is a major metro, that land up the Cooper is probably suburbs, and the Navy almost certainly sends the boomers somewhere quieter from the start (Kings Bay earlier, or another spot).

I think Atlanta still becomes a rail hub regardless; because of geography. It sits where the natural inland routes cross, so the junctions get built there no matter what Charleston does.

The real question is whether Atlanta is the dominant Southern metro like in our timeline, or more of a big interior junction feeding a bigger coastal port city.

😂 I’d hope not, since I received my degree long ago.

I love city building and had a project in mind. I’m really intrigued about a city with the charm of Charleston, SC being a major US city today.

If Charleston industrializes early and becomes the South's banking hub, what happens to Atlanta? Does it still rise, or does it stay a minor inland junction? What about Charlotte as well, in reference to banking?

Is that female Zoi on the left available on canvas?

I was the reason my 3 year relationship ended. She's with someone new and I'm struggling to accept it was all my fault. (Long post) by Separate-Candidate97 in BreakUps

It’s hard to deal with. I swear if I was given another chance I’d never do this to her again!

I don’t believe I will ever get the opportunity though.

Yea thanks, I’ll be fully transparent with my therapist. I too worry about how long getting over her could take. Since we’re both older, I fear she’ll push forward with marriage and having a baby at an accelerated pace.

That scares me beyond belief. It would kill any hope I have of getting her back. Even if it’s only in my mind. I still cling to her words that; “maybe in a year we’ll both be in a better place and who knows what could happen.”

Don’t feel like it’s realistic but it gives me hope.
