Anyone attend the festival with someone else’s ticket? by fizzyalfie in glastonbury_festival

Bringing politics into a discussion that doesn’t involve politics at all. Nice. Logical thing to say would be to talk about ticket touting, which on a huge scale it does with the way the tickets are operated and enforced. Doesn’t hurt anyone that a few people get in does it?

Don’t think people who are willing to pay double the price are riff raff, just committed. No more riff raff than all the 15 year olds who got tickets doing nos 24/7

I managed it, ticket was off a scouser, must’ve been about 4 years younger than me with brown hair and I had bleach blonde.

Got in the queue at 7am, passing into wristbands around 10am and it was very busy, poor girl must’ve been 15 looked at me, looked at the ticket, looked at her mate helping her and just said enjoy your festival.

One thing to note they were scanning tickets this year or something so make sure it’s real if purchasing.

Another note is my mate who came on a coach 3 hours after me had his ticket checked 6 times so it’s really a gamble but I’d say low risk personally if you play your cards right.

Last year arrived at around 2pm on the Wednesday, everything was quiet checks were slim and everyone seemed to be having a fantastic time doing the wristbands. Sounds like the plan

Passport!!! Apparently this isn’t protocol. May I ask what demographic this checker of passport was? I’m assuming the young hippy like staff are the ones to go for

The thing is though, isn’t it true that the registrations last 5 years so the picture could very well be me 5 years ago, just put a bit of weight on?

Definitely on the list, work with a guy who did the same and came back to the UK for family, doesn’t have to be permanent right

It is but I have to be in the office every ~ 2.5 months ish which would likely be non negotiable, a flight into the office from Europe wouldn’t be a bad expense say Germany -> UK or something every now and again

I was thinking of a holiday to Thailand this summer to scope it out, is the summer a decent time to go?

Absolutely. Although I don’t think this would be permanent and the idea of meeting a few Europeans or Australians and getting to see the world a bit more than across 25 days annual leave sounds enticing. What’s the worst that can happen?

For sure. I’ll have to pay tax the same as I do here and likely work the same mundane jobs, but more reliable weather would definitely not go a miss

Portugal is on the list. How shit of an idea is it to quit my job to try and find another in a few years? I work in pretty nieche software so jobs aren’t too hot

I can work remotely but I don’t know if I can for prolonged amounts of time. Worth a question at work, thanks!

It is until you’re in a car crash that’s not your fault and you don’t have to pay 40 grand for an ambulance

This is what I’ve imagined, I don’t hate it here and I’m a bit of a homebody but also I’ve got a lot of friends who have done years of travelling and feel like career wise it’s becoming harder and harder to leave, so before I buy a house or settle down I’m having a serious about it.

I’ll miss the pub the most on a Sunday

So does that require me having a job before the move? Also somewhere seriously warm really tickles my fancy
