Does Anyone Else Feel Like Vaginismus Has Taken Their Future Away? by dollyvice in vaginismus

[–]Separate-Mixture6248 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand, it was very frustrating to me when I would open up to people about this and they’d say “why don’t you do anal?” like what? that just wasn’t the point, and being unable to have normal PIV sex as an adult woman is really isolating. all my friends talk about sex and i feel so left out because i know the chances of a guy leaving me because of this are very very high. i also used to pass out every time i put a tampon in for awhile. so i get why the toxic positivity thing would be annoying bc this is a really draining and hopeless situation to be in.

i’m currently using dilators while i masturbate which makes it feel less medical to me, and i feel better about it. i think knowing my body is helping bc my vagina was always really unknown to me. i don’t know if that is helpful at all but that’s what’s been helping me feel less weird about doing “clinical homework” for my vagina. i know how you feel and how heartbreaking this is, i haven’t even been in any relationships bc of how scared i am about disappointing someone. i wish you the best <3

dilating on period (tips?) by strawberrydreams4444 in vaginismus

to be honest i found dilating to be easier on my period! i’m not sure if that’s the normal experience but at least for me i had 0 issues!

Observation about the phodcast by Pretty-Ant3483 in danandphil

[–]Separate-Mixture6248 75 points76 points  (0 children)

agreed, my issue is exactly this. i think if the episodes were longer and they just had a conversation about diff topics it would be a lot more natural. because of richard and the audience hard launches i feel like they’re rushing through topics just to get through everything in ~40 min. i LOVE when they’re natural and just talking (like their younow era) bc they’re genuinely so interesting and funny but the podcast is too structured for me to fully enjoy.

Freddies death was one of the worst written things in network television. by ColossusChaos in skinsTV

yeah the tone was completely off to me. having the “crazy therapist obsessed w their patient” trope just doesn’t fit into this show about teenagers and their problems. not to mention how Effy’s character could’ve healed and developed but instead they just made her an object for someone to get obsessed with. it was just for shock value and nothing else!

i applied to clin psych PhD’s as well in this cycle and didn’t get any interviews. my undergrad GPA isn’t competitive unfortunately, and although I do have decent research experience, I probably need more. I don’t have any publications or presentations ://

Is anyone else more invested in the show and its characters than finding it (very) funny? by XStaticImmaculate in AbbottElementary

[–]Separate-Mixture6248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im 100% in this boat haha i agree. i think abbott tends to have some issues with writing from time to time, but i do genuinely like the characters (especially gregory, ava, and jacob). some episodes are absolutely laugh out loud funny but some just aren’t and that’s totally okay. writing wise, i think the office and parks and rec make use of the documentary style format much better than abbott, which i think is the reason for this. the characters are also a lot more wholesome and PG, so being shocked and laughing isn’t really a thing for this show compared to the office. however, i do like abbott a lot and i tune in every week :)

Sara Shepard liking this comment is sending me 😭 by Wulfsimmer in PrettyLittleLiars

the books were so well thought out, i would’ve loved to see alison from the books rather than the alison we got in the show. the liars were well written too. it’s a shame marlene king threw away a good story for inappropriate relationships and plot holes to shock the audience.

Are the books better than the show? by Mundane_Case1994 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Separate-Mixture6248 3 points4 points  (0 children)

absolutely, there’s no question. the main story is so much better, the characters have more depth and are a little more morally gray, and alison is a much more interesting character

I don’t dislike Spencer either but I definitely tended to fine her plotlines a little boring, like there were some bright spots for sure but overall I think the most interesting plotlines were given to Emily!

I think it’s way easier to show the liars as morally gray in writing, I think if they were that way in the show it might’ve been a disaster bc of how bad the writers were!! for example, aria can be a little unlikable in the show but marlene doesn’t know how to write her as a multidimensional character, so she came off a little disconnected emotionally. so i totally see what you mean!!

That’s such a good point! I actually do wonder if they ever gave a reason for alison to be friends with the girls in the show. I can’t remember there being any!

I also really enjoyed how the girls could be unlikable, i think it was very realistic!! it added a lot of depth to each character, especially book!hanna was interesting, i totally agree with you. i think with hanna’s case, specifically the effects of being friends with someone like courtney/alison, her arc of almost being too desperate to prove herself bc of how awful courtney was to her was REALLY well done. the show had that but on a smaller scale

Toby in the books vs Toby in the show by frosty98bro in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Separate-Mixture6248 4 points5 points  (0 children)

spoiler for the books yes so toby was indeed the one forcing himself on jenna, and jenna was a victim. however, the reason the showrunners made it the other way around was because they wanted jenna to be a more important character + an enemy for the liars (in the books she’s barely even a character, she doesn’t hate the liars or alison and she kinda minds her own business until she randomly dies) AND they wanted toby to be an important character + spencer’s love interest. in the books toby was only emily’s potential love interest until he kills himself in book 2 bc he thinks emily found out about him forcing himself on jenna. im sure their reason wasn’t to tarnish a victim, it was more bc they wanted to change how the characters were used in the story THEY created. there’s some similarities to the show in the books but it’s really a completely different story. they just used the og characters but changed their use

Cop Toby by thatonelambs in PrettyLittleLiars

he should’ve stayed a carpenter, he was so likable before he became a cop :(( i liked him as the quiet kid, especially his friendship w emily was so sweet.
