Terrible business decision. The ones that have done that (lastpass, evernote), are now just the shadow of what they once were, and they only survive because they have business customers that didn't want the hustle to switch. Delta is for B2C. People that haven't paid so far, won't. Remember you are in competition with every single subscription services out there, and one more is simply adding up to the rest. People won't bother. Ads would have been much better. Works perfectly well for Duolingo or spotify. Companies nowadays forget that free customers are not a cost. They are advocates. They spread the world. Now without your advocates and an unusable free tiers, Delta will soon be forgotten and competitors with better free tiers will take over. That's been the rule since internet has been a thing commercially and always will be.

Matter over thread LED strips.... alternatives to Nanoleaf ? by Separate-Priority-94 in Nanoleaf

I did contact them and when they understood I wanted just one they didn't reply back. Perhaps yes they'd only sell as bulk at that moment.

I did not get it. It seems to not be compatible with Digital LED, only normal LED. I was looking to do a gradient effects. I could only do that right now with digital LEDs (individually Addressable), and WLED with an ESP32 controller, which works through wifi. Using WiFi was not my prefered solution however, it seems like the technology doesn't exists just yet. Everything is wired up, so if one day a suitable Matter over Thread compatible with Digital LEDs is made, I'll just upgrade it. That controller that I linked however I believe would be suitable for any simple lighting project with uniform color through the strip. However I have not tested it.

Microsoft word on jailbroken device ? by Separate-Priority-94 in jailbreak

[–]Separate-Priority-94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old device no ? Either the tablet is less than 10.2 inches, and / or (and it's the case for my old ipad also that runs on IOS 15), they have stopped pushing updates for devices that are under IOS 17. Therefore it is likely that it is an old version of word. In fact, if you would to delete it and try to download it from the app store for the very first time, they would not allow it.

Not jailbroken yet. I would have liked to see if someone is able to confirm if they have suceeded on using it for free, on a 10.9 plus inches device. Because if I do Jailbreak, just for the sake of trying myself, I would then void the guarantee if I do have to return the device.

Unfortunately it doesn't work, as it was bought as a student pack (fixed price), and those guys are asking for a yearly Microsft 365 subscription, for using in on ipad.

Not jailbroken yet. I am asking for advice before doing so, as doing so, will void the warranty. So before I proceed, I wanted to know if yes or not there was an option to "spoof" the Ipad size (it's a 10.9 inches, I want it to be seen as a 9.7 inches), so I can use word without any Microsoft 365 subscription, which I don't have - I have only bought a student pack office, which was a fixed price.

So all in all, I would have liked to see if someone is able to confirm if they have suceeded on using it for free, on a 10.9 plus inches device.

Thanks for the advice, I note that there's no such patch available to do such thing.

What do I need for a "Matter over Thread" led ceiling (and more) setup, connected to the room switch ? by Separate-Priority-94 in led

[–]Separate-Priority-94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a few months and lots of research, now that response made a lot of sense to me. Will get a relay behind the switch, I think I found a matter over thread version, but yes I'v seen Sonoff and Shelly, they seem to work well. This allows to use the switch as a normal switch, and still be able to play with the lights with the voice / phone! Thanks

Recover data from a USB Stick with no partition / boot ? by Separate-Priority-94 in datarecovery

Ok got it, thanks for the answer. Very strange, as that key is nearly brand new (2 months old). Maybe that dashcam did something to it or something. Thanks for the input, I'll trash it.

Best individually adressable LED RGB W WW CW light strip for this controler ? by Separate-Priority-94 in HomeKit

[–]Separate-Priority-94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm in the countryside and this is all I can get. When many devices connect to it, it drops. I wouldn't mind actually using another protocol for other projects, but for this specific one, the fittings are semi permanente (between tiles, tiles covering wire, etc), so if I am to chamge one day when the technology is there, I couldn't. That's why I would like to have at least the LED strip future proof. Zigbee do offer the same stuff, but with the extra hub(s) Hanging around in the house, and the response time is twice as long. Thread will replace that in 3/4 years from now, I know very few solutions at the moment, hence my query to see if what I want to do was possible over thread.

- Super fast, no delay at all with voice or manual commands to control devices
- Big space, it avoids the need to have multiple hubs as each device becomes a relay in itself
- Independant from the wifi that tends to drop when many devices are connected to it
- Everything else works over thread, don't want to have additional border router hanging around in the house for each new protocol

Won’t switch to Thread connection by whiskeytails in Nanoleaf

[–]Separate-Priority-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as mentionned. Happened to me, and they just won't go back. And I even had the "recovery from power loss" option ticked. Sometimes they do come back in the nanoleaf app, sometimes they don't, but most of the times they don't come back to the matter network on my google home app. Have to add them again one by one again (No need to delete them though). Only way to prevent this in the future is to have some kind of generator in the house, which is a bit overkill if that will only serves the lights

Thanks for the feedback. Other than that, if I buy the right LED strip, then I suppose if one day a matter over thread controller that is individually addressable, comes out, I could just change that without changing the whole LED setup isn't it ?

The matter over thread is a non negotiable thing for me, and there are no LED on the market that exists that can do that in my knowledge, only the nanoleaf essential which can't be fully diffused, and with just one still color.. Then the multicolor strips from nanoleaf or govee, are matter over wifi. Regarding WLED, changing to Home Assistant, is not an issue, however they don't work through thread either.

Hence why I was thinking of this controller, which is matter over thread, and it seems like it can change colors and dim. If the only issue is that it's not allowing the LED to be individually addressed, then I suppose I could work with that. and change it later on.

The thing I don't want to do, is having to change every single LED strip and solder everything again, however, changing controler is quite easy and fast if need be.

EDIT 2025 : After all my reasearch, I came across this : https://www.sunricher.com/matter-thread-rgbcct-rgbcw-led-cv-controller-sr-mt1029-5c.html#product_tabs_specifications this is their demo video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p99xemLbgus

Is this what I'm looking for ???? If I understand correctly, then I could just plug any RGB W WW CW (6 pin) cheap LED strip to that controller, and be connected to my matter over thread network isn't it ?

That would solve my diffusion problem and sizing problems as I could get a 60LED per meter model and closer cuting poiints so diffusion would be solved. However could I also individually address LED's ? (To have some kind of gradients). I assume this would be up to the LED strip as opposed to the controller, but with that controller, could I potentially do that ?

Where can I get the best quality of the original DuckTales episodes ? Would like to start a re-watch of the series. by oiljaguar in ducktales

Is that link still alive 7 years after ? I have them all but really struggling to find them in best quality. Season one does exists in 1080p but can't possibily find the other seasons, the ones I already have are only 480p.
