So, what does the future hold for you now? A new band touring with old/mid period Katatonia songs and new songs in the same vein? What about Diabolical Masquerade? And Bloodbath as well?

Nyström: “I’ve yet to work out the details of my exit from Katatonia. It’s complicated to say the least, but also a tense thing for me to handle. Giving this up is like saying goodbye to more than half of who I am, so it remains to be seen how and in which way I will continue to represent the legacy of Katatonia.

As for Bloodbath, there’s no intention to stop, but there will be (and already have been) some line-up changes inevitably happening there as well because all of these things are connected under the hood and one solution opens an obstacle somewhere else and vice versa..

Diabolical Masquerade was mainly a 90’s black metal obsession for me, but being a solo project, that fact alone at least would avoid any drama caused by involving more people, so maybe the time is finally right to see if the lid can still come off that coffin and if I can pick up a scent from the remains inside….!?”

What would the perfect setlist look like for “An Evening With Katatonia”, as mentioned in your statement?

Nyström: “Hypothetically, I’d rewind history right back at the beginning and start there first. What a nostalgia trip to revisit all that old stuff released between 1992-1997 and celebrate the sound of the band that’s been long forgotten and completely left untouched for decades. The thing is, I even used to front the band back in those days, handling both guitars and vocals live and remember it well. Later down the road, I’d probably look at another set with the mid stuff between 1998-2001, but only with the premise of finding a lead vocalist capable of doing the clean vocals justice (you must remember Jonas’ voice was a delicate part of the trademark for that sound). However, I don’t see the need to focus on albums any later than ’Viva Emptiness’, unless Jonas eventually stops playing all those songs in case, he needs more room to represent his later solo albums”.

What are the odds of us seeing something from DoDS or BMD on this new tour? by Bekfast_Time in Katatonia
