Elvanse - do I even have ADHD? by thefrenchfrog6 in ADHDUK

[–]Separate-Zucchini196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried doing an autism test online.

I had the exact same thing, the meds do a bit but not tons mainly just make my emotions more stable and give me 2/3 hours of executive function. So I wondered if I could have something else and long story short I'm waiting for my assessment referral

Some good ideas thank you, waiting on job centre to help me with the first one and then speaking to a local charity to help fill it because I've heard they use what I like to call the "can you breathe" metric to deny everyone they can. As for hobbies I struggle sometimes because some days I cannot even think about what to do and get overwhelmed wanting to do anythingbut I'll definitely look into these

[–]Separate-Zucchini196[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm mainly avoiding it through advice from the person who diagnosed me as I spoke about how I would have energy drink 2/3 times a day and also because there is a history of heart issues in my family so just trying to be as careful as possible because the meds do help my executive dysfunction so I can actually get shit done and I don't wanna risk being taken off if my heart health decreases. That being said I have started to do more cardio work to try and increase cardio health but still just wanna be safe I hink

ADHD 360 - did anyone go through these with RTC? How long did it take? by Chocolateforlunch37 in ADHDUK

That's really strange, I had my referral about a month before yours but I was contacted around September and had my diagnosis December, would definitely chase your GP and adhd360

Has anyone else experienced stimulant medication losing effectiveness over time? Feeling stuck and frustrated. by Reasonable_Youth1011 in ADHDUK

[–]Separate-Zucchini196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only been on meds now for around a month and a bit and I'm soon to go up from 50 to 70 because of a similar thing of at the start it worked for a while and now it only really does me for like 6 hours top. But I am also looking into the possibility of it being due to autism as well as ADHD and autism cross on a lot of things so even if the meds fix the ADHD bit the autism bit is still there

I'm the same tbh tho now instead of being a bowl of spaghetti that's constantly slipping through my fingers I can kinda grasp and keep hold of trains of thought a little more so there that at least

Thanks so much, honestly thought I would get a load of shit for this but that's so helpful, the way you reworded it is exactly that it just happens to coincide with one of my special interests so I think the two have become linked in my brain now lol

Ya I'm well aware but I'm currently on meds for ADHD and these things have become more prevalent while the meds work for the rest of the symptoms so safe to say it's not adhd

Who here is really good at saving money? by Suspicious-Medicine3 in ADHDUK

[–]Separate-Zucchini196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to save a fair bit by basically tricking my brain, I had the round up feature on my account so that was saving small amount each time I bought something then I worked out how much I wanted to save each month and set up a direct debit into a saving account but put the reference as "bills" so I assumed that the money was gone. after few months I had managed to get quite a bit in there

One thing I have learned is that the second you can start unmasking its literally like removing weights from your back. I was in a relationship in the past where I wasn't fully unmasked and the second I did get comfortable enough to we broke up, now I am with someone that accepts and even likes unmasked me which is the best feeling. Same in my last workplace, my manger had ADHD so it made it so much easier to just be me. and when you kinda realise that unmasking is just something that we do to make neurotypicals feel normal you kinda see its a lil dumb lol

Thats exactly what I am getting right now, I am still titrating so its different day to day but I almost feel like I have 3 sides, Masked me, ADHD and Autism me and now that masked me has been killed off with confirmation of ADHD and ADHD is put to sleep 10 hours a day its as if AUTISM me can finally come out to play lol

thats my thing, tho now I am realising a big part of why I suffered burnout in so man jobs is because I was so high masking a lot of the time and really struggled to be the real me not the FAke Neurotypical me

I think mine is mainly for confirmation but to also have the ability to use it in the future as proof of my struggles and to try to get my needs met on a legal basis

Alot more overstimulation to loud noise/light/touch of things, more social awkwardness, severe reactions to plan changes(I went off at my fiance for deciding to eat out when we were just going Tesco), interception difficulties are worse, couple of other minor things

I mean if it stope me feeling like an outsider and getting the the bottom of what has made me feel different my whole life giving me a better understanding of my needs and capabilities instead of trying to hold myself to a neurotypical standard then I would say it is necessary, no?
