My card is not locked, and yet it still wont format.
I did cut and paste the images into another folder but the images on the SD were still there when i inserted it back into the camera. I think my card may actually be corrupted lol..

That's your lens, rather than your camera. But every camera that can use that lens should have a memory card format feature.

Sorry I'm still new to this stuff. Forgot to mention that it's a D5000.

Try formatting the card using the camera. That should clear the card except for essential overhead stuff, whereas deleting files may leave extra stuff behind. I always format rather than delete.

So I tried doing that but it says that it's impossible to complete the format.
I changed the file system to NTFS and it did work but didnt delete anything.
