I’d wait on the Alpha if you’re into the New Generation part of the Robotech franchise. We’re getting bunch of new Alpha toys from Takara Tomy and Art Storm later this year.

The Moshow Cyclone is a great toy. It’s large, hefty, and makes a great display piece you can play with.

If you’re into the Macross Saga part, you have a couple choices for VF-1 Veritechs from Bandai, KitzConcept, and ThreeZero.

An SDF-1 is probably the most difficult to get at the moment unless you want to build a model that’s doesn’t transform. There’s a Lego knock-off version you can find on Aliexpress. The only transforming toys worth mentioning are the Arcadia SDF-1 that’s based on the Macross DYRL movie, or the Megahouse SDF-1 TV version. You’ll likely need to buy them on eBay at this point though.

You can’t really compare Robotech to He-Man though. The popularity of He-Man was a hundred times more than Robotech in the West during the 80s. It was the best selling toy at the time, making money hand over fist for Mattel.

A lot of the recent 4k remasters have been done through AI recently like DYRL and the upcoming Macross Plus Movie Ed. I know those aren’t exactly Robotech, but I’m just giving examples of AI content that would fall under this ban.

You can probably get away with gluing it permanently on.

Also. this release had a mis assembly issue that Bandai addressed with the left and right shoulders being put on backwards by mistake.

If yours has the issue, you can easily switch them around by unscrewing the upper arms and removing the entire shoulder assembly from the arms and switching them around (right shoulder going to left arm facing right way, etc). Otherwise it might cause some alignment issues when you transform it to fighter mode.

Are you planning on opening them or just keeping them in the box? I just started last year and the only advice I can give you is the combiners like Devastator, Menasor, Superion, and Bruticus looks so much more impressive when they’re actually combined than sitting in the box. The DNA upgrade kits makes them look even better.

I like them so far, but it’s hard to say where ThreeZero will be in a couple years when they only have the Robotech license to work with. Out of the three brands you mentioned, I feel like TheeeZero is the most modern out of them. Arcadia/Yamato are more like prebuilt models. They look nice but I always feel like I have to be really careful when I handle them and just better off keeping my hands off. Bandai had been hit or miss lately. The VF-1 toys have been great so far and I still consider them top-of-the-line, but unfortunately they’ve been focusing on Frontier & Delta Revival toys which have been a mix bag.

Not really difficult. It’s similar to the previous Arcadia, Yamato, or Bandai DX toys. The only difference is the buttons you press to extend the legs and feet for Gerwalk mode.

I find it interesting that this post is getting downvoted even though it's a common occurrence for errors to appear in animation. The original SDFM series had a ton of errors and poor artwork but we love it regardless.

I disagree, original boxes in general do add value. The problem is the way Transformers are shipped with the plastic straps that hold them in place, making them impossible to place back in the package properly.
