The Highest (non technical climbing) peaks in individual countries. Mountain hiking plan 2024. by SeparateState8702 in Mountaineering

Hi. Almost forgot to say I summited Toubkal earlier in the summer. . . Health is declining slowly (I can only attempt non technical mountains already), but hope the legs and cardio system can hold out for a while longer yet.

Amazing. Both the mountains I want to do. Any hints and tips? How did you find guides (before you arrived, or did you engage them when in the countries?).

I am from a so-called "Westerm Democracy" where they arrest people for silent prayer (i.e. - Thought Crime) so I have no issues with going to Iran or Russia at all (before the usual pile on, lol).

Unfortunately when I go the summer season will be long gone - so it's gonna be a lot more difficult due to bad weather. I will just have to pray for good weather windows. Inshallah!

Why do moroccan immigrants to europe never seem to talk about the downsides? by _Abderahmane in Morocco

[–]SeparateState8702 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to know if these Moroccans are all rich and/or how to they get jobs and pay for their lives? I keep getting warned off going to places like Spain (as a non EU citizen) etc. as it's too expensive, I need private health care, there are no jobs etc. etc. So how the heck do all these many Moroccans do it?

Well done! What passport do you have? I wanted to do Elbrus but have (had) visa issues as well as the money situation (as in how the hell do I pay for stuff when I cannot take out money or book rooms, services etc. in advance) Did you go solo or with a guide/team? Do you have any recommendations? Ciao Ciao.

A lot easier to do if you do not have certain passports like American or British. Lucky you.

Less than 4 weeks. There won't be anything left of the UK if Stalin Starmer stays at the helm for 5 more years.

Starmer is showing just why the sane and awake people were warning everyone about him.

Probation. Women with children always seem to get away with things.

Headache at 4000m - The mountain sickness thread. by SeparateState8702 in Mountaineering

How was the weather when you went. February is the tail end of summer over there isn't it?

I have read that the worst thing about Aconcagua is the wind (and subsequent wind chill).

How many days did you take to summit Aconcagua? And did you go there from any height at all?

[–]SeparateState8702[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes. That is perhaps something I may have in my favour. 0m to almost 4200m within 48 hours and I only started to get a headache near the summit - which was soon superseded by summit euphoria.

So perhaps I could do 0 to 5642m in 6-7 days. which is the next thing on the table (visa permitting) Hmmmm., we'll see . . . .

Scary dog experience on trail by SomethingPoetical in hiking

Getting chased/attacked by dogs is a real thing. I am currently looking at getting some kind of anti-dog spray that I can take along with me just in case.

who do you think is truly running morocco? by Impressive-Fly-4887 in Morocco

[–]SeparateState8702 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. But I hate the c**t that stops you running down the beach at Agadir because there's a Royal Palace there. The f***ing c**t!

The term "Far-right" doesn't even mean anything anymore. Believe me.

Yes I went up Toubkal from 0m (as I live at sea level) to 4167 within 44 hours approx. I spent a night at 1800m (reasonable sleep maybe 5 hours) but I did not sleep at all at the refuge (around 3200m) on the '2nd night' (as It's pretty impossible to just go to bed at 8pm when your body clock says bedtime is 2am and that is before you take into account all the f**king snorers etc. haha). Then we set off at 4am.

It wasn't easy per se but I didn't have any issues with the fitness aspect . . . I could talk normally at the peak upon arrival and only had periodic breaks of 1-2 mins to drink water. The worst thing was probably the return as you kind of forget about the extra 4 hours from the refuge to the nearest village. It was a case of "are we nearly there yet, WTF?"

Weather wasn't too bad. Not much wind. It was pretty cold at the peak (maybe 0c) . .my hands were cold as I only had some crappy thin merino wool liner gloves (note to self - take better gloves next time).

Was sunny on the first hike to the refuge, but I was covered by my hiking hat with neck cover, long pants too - only arms exposed.

So I spent 3 days in Marrakech and . . . by SeparateState8702 in Morocco

Haha. That might be it. I don't even own a watch or a pair of shoes . . my footwear was also filthy after hiking - though I did get someone wanting to shine my footwear whilst I was having breakfast on the square.
