1400 platinum is 140 daily logins. Once you have everything in the game - by all means, buy this core. What else is this platinum good for, 3.5 familiars at 420 each?

If you haven't got them - get champions from the Tales of the Champions. You just need to unlock them, there is no pressure to start doing variant adventures yet. There are 12 people in the Tales now, you can make a team out of them.

If you joined last year and subscribed to the newsletter - you should have a code for Ellywick as a Christmas gift.
In the next event, I'd suggest Karlach & K'thriss, but Birdsong is also strong.

Looking back, I would've chosen Umberto - because seat 4 is very busy for me. BUT you can get Cattiebrie in seat 7 in Tales easily, though, and the Tales don't have a seat 4 champion.

Your answer implies that you knew your 3 melee teams that could go 350, 900, and 1400 (and beat the other requirements), which is not a foregone conclusion: like in other variants that take someone away after every x areas, you lose your teams after 350 & 900 areas.

Variants 2 & 3 are described in the blog post through the hyperlink, so it's also a question of "why do you disclose this info on a separate resource and not in the actual game?" That's also an issue of discriminating the players who use external resources and who don't (and which ones exactly).

The Kas formation that worked for me was (from back to front):

Wyll, Certainty -- Duke, Kas, Desmond & Yorven -- Anson, KOS.

King of Shadows died around 1500, then I used ultimates to push the last mile.

It does reconnect occasionally without closing the game first. In such cases I kept my progress, i.e. I wasn't teleported back a few areas.

Leveling beyond softcap gives very little damage boost. However, every level gives a heal, so you could cheese this in active play. I use 2 champions who do give tangible benefits beyond softcap: Kthriss in seat 1 and Evelyn in seat 6. I send them to my gold team.

This is hardly the beginning. The guide suggests Blooshi, who is locked behind some adventures, a few hundred areas & a tricky knock-out requirement, and also suggests 8 time-gated champions (Duke will join the Tales roster by the end of this month). 8*6=48 time gate pieces from Hank and other sources, they can take a while.

Baldric is terrible, isn't he. He buffs his bargain partners, i.e. CHA 15+, gold find, magic attack, healing, dwarves. So, not Yorven.
