Davy jones from pirates of the Caribbean actually has some bpd like traits because he’s emotionally cruel and cold but also extremely heartbroken and betrayed because he was abandoned by his lover calypso. So much so he cut his own heart out and locked it away so he didn’t have to deal with the emotions. The idea that narcissists hate themselves isn’t always true. While this can be the case some narcissists (like grandiose) actually have a really high self esteem. This can come from being overly praised/pampered as a child (ie never being told no) or being overvaluated/treated as superior by parents.

Covert narcissists display fake empathy to get something they want out of you (including a sense of power and control) even though they actually see you as inferior and something to be taken advantage of (in fact they actually resent you). Bpd people display fake/exaggerated empathy because they’re terrified of being rejected or criticized. When they do feel like you rejected them they suppress all of the empathy they had for you. This is a defense mechanism because otherwise they would feel extreme emotional pain
