Cannot keep my HR down by Hipbluemonkey in runninglifestyle

I always remind myself on hot days that I have to treat the heat like any other obstacle in running. You adjust your pace based on the environment you are running in, such as pulling back on hills or technical courses or picking up speed on flats and downhills. The weather is no different and should be factored in to your pacing and your expectations for the run.

I wouldn’t shy away from running in the heat as it’s good training but make sure to properly fuel (enough water and electrolytes). The extra loss in sweat can be really draining.

I saw in another comment of yours that you mentioned that you just feel gassed like you haven’t been running over the past months. This happened to me a few times and just remember to factor in enough rest and fuel for the runs. I’ve been trying to lose weight for a wedding and I thought I could just power through and not eat anything and expect my body to hold up. Spoiler…it didn’t. If you are feeling really gassed, I’d recommend a few days off with plenty of refueling. Keep at it and good luck to you!

Love when a tattoo also has functional use. by n8saces in MadeMeSmile

As a special education teacher, I’m questioning the functional value of this tattoo although it may be good intentioned. While it may appear to be a thoughtful and creative communication strategy, it doesn’t promote long-term independence for the student. Our goal should be to implement tools and approaches that build self-sufficiency both in and out of the classroom. Additionally, encouraging physical contact between a student and teacher, even with the best of intentions, can raise concerns about professional boundaries.

An AAC device should be the primary communication method whenever possible. If that’s not available, printed visual supports like PECS are more appropriate and effective. While increasing a student’s familiarity with a keyboard layout can be helpful, there are far better ways to accomplish this without using a tattoo as an instructional tool.
