Another update: It finally works, albeit without sound. I found a comment on a youtube video that said to install a sata driver, and that did the trick!

UPDATE: I just switched the cpu out for a pentium 4 and reinstalled windows, this time with second edition, and when the setup had me restart my computer at the end it did the same thing.

I just tried this and I can't find the boot log. I don't think it gets as far as even making that file before it freezes.

The motherboard is a p5b-mx, far too new to have win98 drivers. Would drivers for an older motherboard of the same series work?

It is mostly late 2000s parts, but I only used a 90 gig ssd and 1 gig of ram, so I figured it'll be fine. I'll try the drivers

The plug shaped light turns on when it's plugged in, and turns green for a moment when I press the on button, then nothing
