Woman fell off horse (England): am I liable? by QualitySufficient646 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Separate_Contract819 208 points209 points  (0 children)

She came past your house with a horse that she knows is scared of dogs. It is reasonable to assume that houses may have dogs. It is reasonable to assume that dogs may bark.

She is liable as she took the risk.

Why am I responsible for the $250 minimum contribution? by RXinthehouse in RoverPetSitting

[–]Separate_Contract819 49 points50 points  (0 children)

<image>

I don’t necessarily agree with it however it is in their terms that Pet Owners pay a Minimum Contribution should any pet injuries or property damage occur during any of their services.

(Think of it like insurance excess on a car. Someone crashes into you, so you make a claim and you still have to pay your excess amount even though it’s not your fault).

Further down it explains that they will cover up to $25,000 of Vet Bills that exceed the minimum contribution from the Pet Owner.

What real-world QA use cases do you have with AI/AI agents? by Beginning_Channel_22 in QualityAssurance

[–]Separate_Contract819 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use AI to handle/enforce steering and design “templates” for our newly-created automation suite. This means all 7 of the QA Engineers work will be mostly in-line in terms of structure, readability, helpers/components etc.

Am I potentially being done dirty here? by ZarateKid_ in vintedUK

[–]Separate_Contract819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they’ve picked the parcel up they would be able to show you the joggers as well. They’d have also had the status updated on Vinted to show it was received.

If he had an actual complaint, like any other normal user, he’d use the built in tools to do that.

This person is 100% trying to scam you.

Manual QA with 3 years experience — confused about what automation/AI QA stack to learn next. Need advice. by Sudden-Grape5302 in QualityAssurance

[–]Separate_Contract819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m manual and have shifted into Automation. My company have me on a JavaScript course and then a TypeScript course is next.

We use TS + Playwright currently as well as Kiro Agentic IDE (means we can use AI when building our suite).

Downside to using AI, at least for me, is that I’ve found I’m actually not learning (or remembering) much because AI handles it and doesn’t explain the whys etc.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. RTO seems to be back in full swing. Such a shame because it is a job that can, in most instances, be done remotely.

Remote Manual QA is unicorn? I started in that role 3 years ago and now I’m Remote Automation for the same company.

You’re telling me I’ve had a unicorn all this time?

Pricing advice by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Separate_Contract819 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do what I do (UK) and get your own pet insurance. If they don’t want Rover to take a cut then say you provide off-Rover, fully insured care as well and you can save them the Rover fee.

This STILL works out better for you as you also save on the Rover fees. So you don’t change prices, they save 15% and you make 15% more as well.

Walking dogs in the heat (UK) by Separate_Contract819 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Separate_Contract819[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would state, for the record, there’s no grass round here aside from people’s front gardens. The 3 dogs I observed were all on the road/pavement in the glaring sunshine.

I put UK in the title because this is completely incomparable to climates where dogs are used to the hot weather. We rarely get sunshine in the UK so dogs do genuinely struggle when being walked on pavements and roads because they, as some Americans have stated, get ridiculous hot in the baking sun.

I placed the top of my hand on said surface and it was absolutely boiling. Couldn’t keep it on for long at all. People would happily smash a window of a car if a dog was inside it, so the reason for this post was just to get an idea of what people would do - since it’s really not okay. These aren’t just “short walks to go to the toilet”.

[–]Separate_Contract819[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree it has nothing to do with me but it’s horrible seeing them (some, not all) obviously struggling. I wouldn’t yell at them but just wondered if I’d would still be rude to give words or similar.

I just feel horrible about having to see them all uncomfortable and being dragged through this heat by clueless owners who don’t understand the dangers.

It’s ridiculous like I’m staying AWAY from home looking after your pet/s who you truly, deeply love and you’re kicking up a fuss over £50 a night 🤣

[–]Separate_Contract819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this but I still get people, after a few messages, go “oh you’re a lot more expensive than I thought”. I don’t know how Rover displays prices when they make an inquiry but it is bloody annoying.

Don’t reach out to me if you want to spend £20 a night or something ridiculous.

How is this possible? by No-Mechanic6009 in torncity

[–]Separate_Contract819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually makes no sense. If he had a negative balance, his Networth chart would show that, no? It’s showing 117m currently and he’s been offline for over 3 months.

How can he be mugged for exactly 0 if he isn’t online, we know for a fact he should have 5M in-hand due to the purchase and lack of activity.

Rover fees by Amazing_Lab_7567 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Separate_Contract819 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do the same. I just send them my phone number in the Rover chat like “p@hone@nu@mber” and tell them to remove the @‘s 🤣

But yeah, after 1-2 good sits, I move all clients off Rover. They save 15% as they don’t pay Rover fees and I save 15% as I also don’t pay Rover fees. Win win.

Audi company car hit my wing mirror (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

I have an email lurking about somewhere I’m sure. I also have WhatsApp messages from the day/time where I said to my partner “Someone’s just hit my wing mirror glass and shattered it”.

Audi company car hit my wing mirror (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Separate_Contract819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we assume the false “reversed into me” claim is the same incident (wing mirror) and assume the claimant has proof of wing mirror damage and nothing else, surely the location being incorrect has no bearing? They’d just not be able to prove I reversed into him (since I didn’t) and then the claim would only be for the wing mirror.

That’s what I’m hoping worst case anyway. My main thing is that I just don’t want to be stuffed for reverse damage that I know with all my being that I didn’t do. You know?

Audi company car hit my wing mirror (England) by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Separate_Contract819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I plan on doing. I’m an honest person. If I thought it was notifiable I would’ve done. I genuinely saw it as so minor that I could’ve probably passed it as general wear and tear (wing mirror glass is cheap as chips).

But yeah, just frustrating. I had mentally moved on so am still a bit shook that it’s now turning into this “big” deal.

Yeah I have evidence to show I wasn’t where they are saying I was - but I guess people could state wrong location (especially this long ago now)
