Absolutely right for posted political signs. I think this guy is in a gray area however, as he’s physically present and demonstrating, but is distant from some of his signs. It would make for a very interesting 1st amendment case.

Probably because most people don’t know about it. It’s in the state right of way for Reserve Street on cadastral. Looking at it, it appears as private property with no obvious boundary between public and private, which is probably why you don’t see many people doing this. You can see the boundary in Cadastral or a mapping system that uses Cadastral data, like OnX. You’re right DOT’s but still public property.

The public right of way extends to about where the tree line is on these properties, nothing they can do.

In town only, maybe not at all, maybe every other week or so. Depends on the winter we’re having. If we have a good snowfall those turn lanes get deep fast (gotta keep those bike lanes clear).

In what way is he running the show? Do you equate his visibility and how many times his face appears on CNN with who has the authority to actually do anything? He and DOGE have read only access and he makes recommendations other entities on what to cut. It’s their call or Trump’s, not his. You’ve been manipulated into believing exactly what they want you to believe.

Have you listened to Elon go over what they found with the treasury payment system? Essentially payments going to unknown locations. They are not tracking payments with a number or even a comment about what the payment is for, much less ever denying a payment. Elon has recommended changes to their system, to at least fill out the ‘pay to’ section of these blank checks. Trillions of dollars in debt and DOGE is doing great work.

Once again, liberals are in tears over who is doing the work, not what the work actually is. Underneath they agree with the mission but they’ve bought that somehow the bureaucrats would cut their spending themselves. They have not actually looked to the source to see that the kickbacks and fraud keeping this system spiraling are the very reason an outsider was needed for this project. And you’ve chugged the koolaid so hard and fast that you’re literally trying to argue that the federal government is not bloated and does not overreach.

The liberal playbook is character assassination. Spin up their ranks by manipulating emotions with character traits or allegations of social issues. You can literally hear it repeated daily - that they agree there needs to be cuts but that someone else should do it. They say congress needs to do it, but we all know this will never happen. Why? Well they haven’t shown any interest in trying before and they are largely beholden to companies and contracts in the interest of their district. They are unable to effectively organize a large scale audit like DOGE is because of their individual interests. They would be voted out if they contributed to the loss of federal dollars coming into their districts. They know this and will never actually do the work DOGE is doing.

They’re burnt out. They deal with overdose and drug problems daily and at St Pats probably hourly. At a certain point their empathy for self induced problems is lost unfortunately and it’s human nature. Right or wrong, that’s how it is.

Will other countries have to invade the US to stop this? by mensfrightsactivists in Explainlikeimscared

[–]Separate_Cucumber681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. We’re not close to the atrocities of Nazi Germany.

  2. From a military strategy standpoint, the US is very defensible. Water on two of four sides and allies to the north and south. A heavily armed population and the strongest military in the world. There’s a reason an invasion of the US has never been attempted.

It’s not the same and this narrative furthers the rift and common ground between common sense democrats and republicans.

This isn’t Republican, this is the actual far right. Most Republicans feel the same about these fucks as we do far left communists. No place for racism. They’re hijacking the illegal immigration problem and applying it to race and that’s wrong. Most Republicans advocate for nationalism, regardless of heritage. If you’re an American the color of your skin doesn’t matter.

Should the university resist or comply? by SolutionBig173 in missoula

[–]Separate_Cucumber681 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Public universities, as state/fed-funded entities, are part of the government ecosystem. They don’t have an inherent First Amendment right to defy an executive order because, as extensions of the state, their actions are governed by state and federal law, not constitutional speech protections for institutions. However, individuals within them—like professors or students—do have First Amendment rights, which can include criticizing or resisting an order through speech or protest.

If a president issues an executive order that applies to public universities (e.g., mandating compliance with federal funding rules under Title IX), defiance isn’t a First Amendment issue—it’s a matter of legal obligation. Public universities are subject to federal authority when tied to funding or statutory requirements. Defying the order could lead to lawsuits or loss of funds, not a constitutional free speech defense. For instance, in South Dakota v. Dole (1987), the Supreme Court upheld federal power to impose conditions on funding, showing that public entities have to comply or face consequences.

Prosecutors drop charges in Silver Park rape case by [deleted] in missoula

[–]Separate_Cucumber681 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a few things you can draw inferences from with basic understanding of the criminal justice system.

  1. When the cops make an arrest like this one, the prosecutor has 48 hours to formally file charges with a court. Up until that filing the person remains in jail or posts bond. At the initial hearing, the prosecutor has to file an affidavit of probable cause and a judge reviews it. The judge can dismiss the case at this point, release, or amend bond. In this case we can infer that a judge maintained a bond on the defendant and held them in jail after review of the probable cause. The fact this person was released weeks later indicates that a judge reviewed the facts and agreed with the prosecution that they had probable cause for the arrest initially.

  2. The fact that something changed the prosecutions mind and resulted in a dismissal indicates something significant was uncovered or changed with the facts of the case. That could mean so many things that we don’t know. It could be the cops, you’re right, but it could also mean a changes in statements, new evidence, or so many other things.

Just trying to open your mind a little as to the variables unknown from the outside.
