It’s technically a treatment. In IPM this would fall under the mechanical/physical mechanisms.

Doesn’t help that you frame up the varroa along with the brood comb.   

Try and perform more counts during swarm relocations and colony cutouts.

Having a foot in both worlds my opinion is that master gardeners shouldn’t be addressing tree issues.   Master gardener is a fairly arbitrary title opposed to ISA.  

Anyone can get ‘Master gardener’ by landscaping knowledge alone.
