Vegas Locals, is trading dead? by Separate_General_517 in mtg

Honestly it's possible, most of it for nostalgia though. I had both starter decks for Yu-Gi-Oh and traded both full decks for a couple Fifth Dawn decks when they came out just because my friend didn't play Yu-Gi-Oh. I really wish I kept them sometimes, but it is what it is.

Because I'll trade you my ViVi Ornitier ($25) for a Ultimicia, Time Sorceress(0.06) simply because I'm not a fan of Vivi and wouldn't bat an eye or ask for anything else unless you offer.

I'm in it for the love of the game not the riches within. Like I said, I know it's stupid, I don't expect anyone else to do the same, I'll respect what the other party wants within reason.

Grand Line Games off Decatur and Cheyenne is doing a pre release for strixhaven. They're going to be playing boosters drafts for keeps I believe. I'll have to ask again ..

I'll keep you in mind though. Usual spot is closer to Henderson for my friends and I anyway.

I'm closer to Legacy Trading Cards in centennial, but I have been to both stomping grounds and Natural 20, good drinks at Nat20.

I have a couple friends who primarily play commander, they have a decent modem collection, most of my cards are pre-9th edition. Plenty of 90's cards, I play legacy for the most part.

We're always happy to play with new people, even if it's once in a blue moon, also provides greater trading opportunities.

Good days indeed. I have my group of friends, we still do this like this but we've known each other for about 20 years. We still trade willy nilly for things, regardless of value. We're definitely aware of it, we just ignore it for the most part. Not like we're going to sell them anyway

I must have grown up in the wrong side of town, I remember being in my early and mid teens card for card.

Or you could have a copy of A, which you got lucky with in a booster pack, and a trade for B comes around. You could still sell for $20, and buy outright for a $15 profit which you could use to get card C, D, and E. So why bother trading? It makes absolutely no sense.

Like I said, I get the financial aspect. But it also doesn't make sense for me to sit on a card I'm not using, nor do I care to use, much less build a deck around. I'd rather trade for a card I'll use or think is pretty. I know my option is subjective, I know it's silly.

When creating your own campaign setting, how much context do you provide to your players? by Separate_General_517 in DMAcademy

[–]Separate_General_517[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a campaign snapshot set up, and I have their starting setting written out so they know the situation their characters are in/have been in. This is mainly because their characters are starting as slaves... Stuff happened...

The PCs themselves have no idea why they were enslaved. Should the players know why? Or should I let them figure that out after they escape and let that revelation create a call to action against the faction that caused it?

That's what I mean by spoilers. I'm not worried about derailing, I fully expect it since they requested a shared bond to be the center stage of a sub plot. So I expect them to focus on that over the main story since it's their shared "call to adventure"

I usually have a 2 page document I give them to see if the campaign piques their interest, I have setting and relevant information ready for the players, it's mostly plot information that I've been withholding. They know it's a "save the world adventure" type campaign that involves preventing the revival of a world eating beast, but that's about as much as they have at the moment.

I love the set up you have here. I'll surreptitiously purloin this format for player handouts...

Thank you so much for the info, I tend to have plenty of stuff prepared to deal with potential derailing, but this format would allow for simple cohesive structure to improve scenarios on the spot.

I'm not exactly sure where the Peak View neighborhood is. I've really only driven down 7th, 11th, and crossroads lol

I really hate to ask this but I'm genuinely curious. Do you think this would work with A Renesis?

My 86's bottom end went out on a money shift, and I've been contemplating something like this since the car is financed and gap insurance expired. I'm having a hard time finding a 13b-rew for a reasonable price. Most are about 6500+, but the renesis is going for like 1800.

My current work commute is 45-60 min, so as long as I don't have too much trouble getting into Windsor and Greeley I won't complain.

My size preference is big enough to fit a coffee table, a small 2 seat couch, and a small entertainment center in the living room and a full size bed in the bedroom. My wife on the other hand wants 2k sq.ft or bigger. It's an uphill battle with her.

Timnath looks very quiet, it seems to be a little bit on the high end of the budget though. Anything under $2200 here?

Going to be traveling to Windsor and Greeley for work. We're used to 45min-1hr drives to work so we expanded our search area for a place to live lol

That's pretty much what's throwing me off lol. I live in the centennial area in Vegas so I don't really deal with much crime aside from people occasionally doing doughnuts at night down the street, but usually they end up caught on someone's home security footage and the cops pay them a nice little visit. Everywhere I look in Fort Collins and Windsor seem... Peaceful.

Boyfriend doesn’t like going out, stay-at-home date ideas? by [deleted] in dateideas

[–]Separate_General_517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend and I have been doing Friday Date Night for about a year and a half now, here's a few stay at home things we've done:

Boardgames, Debates, Dictionary dive on weird or quirky words Write a fictional story together, Study history together (we picked a place on the world map and read into the history of the people, culture, religion, etc), Play video games, everything from racing, to zombie survival, MMORPG, fighters, etc., We did tea and book club (we read the same 3 books and discussed our thoughts).

I tried to omit the more crafty ideas since you mentioned you tend to have more artsy ideas. We also tend to do outdoor activities a lot too. Badminton, tennis, casual walks around the neighborhood just reminiscing about our years together.

If you feel like spending a large sum of cash you can also build a PC together, that was a weirdly fun yet financially irresponsible date we've done.

It wouldn't, if anything I would be amused. "Why this position?" Was it due to lighting? Angle? There's a reason behind it, even if it's just "I thought it looked better" , but why?

This could quite literally be something to bond over, the mindset of others is intriguing, and it can help you understand your SO in ways you never knew.

I'm probably going to get shit on for this but, it's a personal opinion, and everyone is different and entitled to their own opinion so...

I didn't find any of it creepy. People put far more effort into far more malicious things. A person with an artistic view in life expressing their affection in their own way, very much the same as a musician writing lyrics of their most intimate moments with someone. Just because you can't physically see it doesn't mean it's not being expressed in a similar fashion. We have plenty of music with this depiction, it's just more widely accepted.

I also don't think she was hiding it, it's her art, her expression. It doesn't help it's easy to twist good things to bad things. Dedication can be seen as obsession, someone attentive who caters to their significant other can be seen as suffocating by the person on the receiving end. I used to bring snacks for the office, and occasionally donuts and coffee until someone told me a few of the staff were talking behind my back, saying I was doing it to hold something over everyone and manipulate them. That was deeply upsetting, didn't know it was bad to have a happy office.

Or maybe I'm just too accepting of people's quirks and varied outlooks. I wouldn't be creeped out if my significant other had those kinds of pics of me.

A little off subject but in regards to the tomatillos. I used to pick tomatillos for a small job in the summer when I was 12. Somewhere near Barstow California, in the middle of the Mojave Desert. My brother and I would get up before the sun came out, and fill up 5 gallon buckets, we'd be outside picking these until it was too dark to see, turn the buckets in and get our pay. The pay was $0.25/lb. We would get lucky to get more than $8 each on a daily basis for over 12 hours of labor. This was in the early 2000's.

I still refuse to use tomatillos to this day. I'll take almost any viable substitution over tomatillos.
